That's disappointing! Hopefully there will be an easy solution

The description says:
"All 10R80 equipped Ford trucks and cars have always been known to run hotter than then their early predecessors."

Hi Again, well I finally got the car to the track on a 95 degree day and did not have the trans overheat, not even got close. The max trans temp I hit was 210 degree, but would settle back to 200 degree for the rest of the half hour run, I would say that the 25 core Derale cooler inline with the OEM cooler did the trick. Also I notice that there was no rise in engine temp after I installed the cooler. All and all very happy with this mod.

This is what I have done while waiting for the snow to melt. I installed 24 row cooler inline with the OEM trans cooler.

Was this the Derale series 8000 24 row trans cooler? The mounting tabs look different which is why I ask.

Yep. Glad to hear that!
I have a setrab 25 tow. And same results.
My issue is the engine and the oil.
I guess also depends on the pace everyone has.
I'm thinking to mpve the oil cooler from lower grille to the side. So i can partially have the lower grille air directly going to the radiator.
We will see :)
If only ford....

Other than drag racing, torque converter automatics have almost no presence in motorsports.

While the traditional H pattern manual has lost a lot of ground in motorsports, it is not to automatics. It is to manual sequential gearboxes, semi-auto (clutch based) sequential gearboxes, and dual clutch gearboxes.
↑ This. Even the Porsche PDK is only used on their lowest end racecar, the GT4 Cayman. Keeping it cool is a chore. All of their other race cars use (at least GT Cup & GT3, but I believe GTLM, also) a sequential manual with a Megaline pneumatic shifter. Very quick shifting, very strong, very expensive.

I used 2 giant coolers. I wasn't messing around. 40 row coolers one for oil and one for 10R80. I repurposed the OE trans cooler to a diff cooler. You can see the auto stick. This is 100% racecar no street time. No conderser core either.

There is no question that you want a real sequential. A DCT is a poor second place. The problem with all current DCTs is they fail. They leave you stranded. The huge advantage to the A10 is that it is a slushbox and Ammco can fix it or you can buy one from Ford and not break the bank. An A10 is around the cost of a motor. A DCT can be 2-4X the cost of a motor. You need computers to trouble shoot it and thus when it goes down on track you are SOL. I have seen that too many time with BMW M3/4 's. That's why I'm not racing one of those. The A10 in sport manual shifts as fast and as well all the way into redline as the PDK. I know this because I race the A10 and had the 718 Cayman in PDK for the track too. Ford and GM did a great job on the A10. You just to keep it cool.

@fatbillybob How is that setup working for you. How long are your track sessions? I am building a endurance racer (6-24 hour races) with a A10 and was wondering if the flow through the cooling circuit is enough? I'm swapping the a 2.3 a10 setup into a smaller car. In a effort to limit the number of heat exchangers crammed into the limited space I have I was gong to try a water to tranny cooler from a dodge truck. I figure if it can keep a heavy duty track tranny cool during towing it should be able to keep up with a 2700 lbs racecar on track.

Anyone try something like this? Part of what inspired me is that it appears that some of the ford trucks are starting to show up with these.

One of these days I will start a build thread. Engine sits mostly behind the shock towers

@fatbillybob Do you happen to have a photo of the trans cooler used for your diff? I was thinking about moving my trans cooler to the rear for the diff, oriented laterally and vertically. Then replace it with a Setrab SLM line, which is thin enough to go in the OEM location, but their biggest isn't any bigger than the OEM cooler.
