That small carbon trapping filter in the GT. Do you guys really think there is 10-20HP gain? Kind of hard to believe my car now has a 20HP gain.
Agreed, but it surely has a placebo effect. Ease of mind.

I THINK but am not certain (ha!) that the car in the video claiming the 20 hp gain was a Mach 1, which appears to have some kind of a CAI that the regular GT does not have. Perhaps the gain/loss is greater with this system than with the GT, which may be closer to the 10 hp claimed. Or alternatively Ford may just be doing the CYA thing with 10 hp claimed difference, which would be smart of them.

As an aside, it’s really gonna be interesting to see what FP has done when the 2022 calibration kit comes out in order to give a salable gain without disturbing Ford’s carbon trapping filter. Maybe we ‘22 owners can do both and really have a beast on our hands!

I'm hoping the discussions thus far, here and elsewhere, will encourage others with dyno and car access to perform confirming runs.

It seems that at least the rated 10HP difference from '21 to '22 is returned by removing the restrictions, maybe more. We'll see a bit of variance I'm sure.

IMO, whatever the gains, it's free HP with minimal effort. I'll take it.

You betcha man! Got me dead to the rights!

I‘ve admitted from the git that it’s mostly a mental thing with me. My ‘22 pulls like a bear and the butt dyno tells me it is at least as strong as my ‘20 if not even stronger! I’ll readily admit I have neither the available nearby roads nor the personal ability to utilize everything the ‘22 brings to the table. After all it’s faster and quicker than ANY stock ‘60s muscle cars I owned, including big block Corvettes. But that’s not the point, is it? If it’s there and available I still want it!

I actually had the Steeda throttle spacer installed. I swear I could feel better response, then, on the other hand, I might have imagined that.. 🤪

Any changes to MPH? because I have a manual M1 and it feels like it has so much rolling resistance and gets like 10mpg

Are you serious? If you are getting 10MPG you are either on the track or there is something wrong with your car. Is your parking brake on?

That‘s interesting.

Can you expound a little about what you mean by “rolling resistance“?

well in the mach you've got a partially obstructed airway but that big cone filter.

for the GT that carbon filter is actually blocking the entire airway and the stock paper filter is doing paper filter things. then there's the partial obstruction of the grid takes up.

i could see 10-20hp gained on a 5.0 V8 pretty easy. i'm just thankful its easy to get rid of. we should probably be mindful of long term effects but the odds are ford didn't change a thing in the tune and this is all a big dog and pony show for the EPA's tyrannical dictations.

Easy for someone who has a forscan or another logging tool to test. Do a few 0-80 pulls with HC and then repeat after. You'd be able to see if there is a lambda d8fference among other things

the main clue here is all the new crap comes before the MAF.
so its kind of like just having a really dirty air filter.
your car will still run, it'll just make less power.

i'm very impressed with ford's craftiness here :)

I kept the plastic parts in on mine, so it easily go back to stock in needed. Super easy to just pop out the filter and put the air box back on.

Yea, I think this is the way to go instead of removing everything. obviously the filter is by far the most restrictive thing in there.

Its actually amazing we can pop this thing out without doing anything permanent. I watched a couple videos of other cars that are also equipped with stuff like this its you need break stuff to remove it.
