Collecting parts for the future (should be 1200ish wheel with e85 eventually on a YSIb) with stock DI at what point do I need 1300s or 1700s? I saw some 1700s locally but thought they might be overkill.

Rule of thumb is basically, go with the smallest injector you can safely make power, otherwise you're adding driveability challenges in off power conditions.

Having said that, Injector Dynamics has the best calculator I've seen and is more specific than the crude assumptions on other calculators.

So, the answer is, it depends on a lot of factors. How high will you rev? Cam aggression? Turbo or blower? Assuming E85. Check out their calculator and put in your parameters and it'll give you the injector performance curve and you can pick what max duty you think is safe. Most people use 90% as the general rule of thumb.

The ID1300's are good for 1100 or so, 1700's are good for 1200+. Shooting for 1200 I would go with the ID1700's as they'll get you where you want to be with room to grow. It's better to have a little more injector than you need vs not having enough.

Hit me up and I can get you a deal on them and I keep them in stock ready to go.

Di will skew the numbers some maybe 100-150 on e85.

With the injectors that our cars use it is ok to use injectors that are to big it will not hurt drivability. Your car will only take as much fuel as it needs. But if you use one that is to small that will hurt drivability with a big hole in the block

Going with the 1700s, room to grow is better than hole in the block

My car is a mt82 gen1 with port injection only.

With the ID1300's, dual 16gph Methanol nozzles, e85, and a blower my car maxed out the injectors at 1300whp. The same setup with the ID1700's and bigger exhaust system made 1400whp.

Def fueling the engine with the methanol. I ran out of fuel at 1100whp on e85.

For folks that re not familiar, @Slow306stang and i run a similar combo. Built engine and F1A94.

I am on the fence on the 1300 or 1700 injectors as well. My car is a 2015 making around 1000 to the tires. I still like to run pump gas and I am concerned the 1700s will not support that.

OP I'd take a look at the FIC1650cc injectors as well if your tuner will tune them.

@Slow306stang are you tuned for the Meth? sounds like a pretty potent combo!

I assume you are Twin turbo and make 1k on e85 and like 650 on pump gas?you need more injector to run e85 vs pump gas. The 1300s have 1khp covered on e85 no prob, especially considering its a turbo car.

I am doing ok with the ID 1050x on w85 at 60psi of fuel pressure. I do plan to build an engine and turn the car up at some point. The car has a Hellion sleeper kit with 62/66 turbos. I know I will eventually tap out the 1300s so I am leaning toward the 1700s.
