10-12k Over Oil Change, am I screwed?

Last oil change date was 3/2022. Mileage was 16,000 with full synthetic. Finally got around to changing it today at 27,100. Tech said the level was not showing on the dip stick when I came in but there doesn’t seem to be any indication that damage was done. Tech said Oil didn’t look too terrible.

I don’t really beat on the car and Really only put in it a few times a month. I put on about 5k a year and only drive it 10-11 times 30 miles round trip a month due to 12 hour shifts.

Yes I know I’m a moron for going this long, just curious what damage could be done and how bad will this affect the longevity of the car. Thanks in advance
I'm surprised that you haven't checked your oil level since you last had it changed. According to your post, it seems that way, otherwise I'd think you would've stated when it was full the last time you checked. I know my car doesn't use oil but I still check it monthly. The bad part is that if there was no oil level on the dipstick, you have NO IDEA how much oil was in the engine. I think if you're 2 qts. low it won't show on the stick. Too bad the oil change place didn't save you a cup of oil to send in to a lab to have it tested. I always test mine at each oil change so I have a running log of how the engine is doing over time.

The problem is that horse only cares about your engine for a relatively short amount of time after selling it to you. They don't care for it 1 mile past it's warranty expiration, and that's what they set out to do. Recommend the bare minimum in order to have the engine last just past the warranty date so they can wash their hands off that liability.

If all you're doing is buying a new Porsche and then trading it in every 3-4 years when the warranty expires, listening to their recommendations is 100% correct. If you want to keep your $200k Porsche past and have it run in tip top shape, the last thing you want to do is listen to a company who's sole purpose is to sell as many new cars as possible. Car manufacturers are not in the business to design and make cars that last 300,000+ miles...they are in the business of making cars that last 60,000 so that you sell that one and buy a new one.

you should be fine. get a borescope and check the engine if you're ultra concerned.
How will a borescope inspect main, rod, and cam bearing surfaces?

Ultrasonic ultraviolet radio imagery. And a really really thin q-tip to swab between the journals. No?

The op need not worry. He can always get $50 in Philadelphia for the car.

My 2011 Mustang had the OLM stop working at exactly 100,000 kms. Which happens to be the exact mileage the warranty runs out. I reset it at that oil change and it stayed on 100% for the next 150,000 kms. I was on a different Mustang forum in those days and I posted this and several people said the same thing happened with their cars, warranty expires and the change the oil reminder stops working. I'm not saying Ford did this on purpose, but it's one hell of a coincidence.

A coincidence is all it is.
I own 3 Fords, all well out of warranty in years and miles and the OLM works as it always has in all three.
The oldest with about 225k miles runs great with no oil consumption at all.
The other two, including the Mustang, are both on the north side of 100k and both of them are the same. All three have their oil changed within days of the OLM notification.

As to the first, id agree but that is certainly not a simple "borescope" lol.

GOOD LORD! There is some paranoid folks on here. All I got to say from experience and observation I have yet to see Ford engine fail if you follow recommended maintenance schedule. They are not designed to only last up to warranty period LOL. I have had multiple Fords with 0 issues well into the mid to high 100K miles. (Of course there is bad apples at times).

Still trying to figure out why the OP's oil change light never came on, did he ignore it, or reset it? It's not. It's a 2019, maintenance light should have come on. I just checked the Ford Pass app. My oil life is at 39%, I had my oil changed in July 2023 at 13,224 miles. As of today I have 15,301 miles. That's 2077 miles since the last change on a 2020 GT. So why am I at 39% (it was reset in July) after 8 months and 2000 miles? Mine is a top down cruiser not a bruiser, all stock and road driven. I have no OLM light yet, and I am not worried if it comes on or goes to 5%. I drive the car weekly (weather permitting-no wet or salt) in the winter to keep the battery and tires fresh.

Yeah the pop up was annoying for some time. I didn’t hit 10k miles until a month or two ago. I’ll definitely monitor for consumption from now on. If there were signs of it prior, dealer never mentioned it

The oil minder is just a tool. I would set a reminder regularly to check oil levels (what if you have a leak out of nowhere? now you risk engine damage). Also a reminder with mileage to change oil. This can be easily scheduled on any smart phone. I think at least once a month need to check levels. Maybe every other week.
