This.

And Penzzoil has a $25 rebate for every 10 quarts of oil you buy now till October.

So basically you're paying ~$2 a quart for a superior oil. M1 is hot garbage.
Oil thread are always funny with everyone having their favorite brew
Truth is that there has been no engine failure due to poor lubrication ( bad oil) , as long that you use the right weight for the application, for quite a few decades now
….maybe I should buy some Slick 50…

Agreed The secret is simple. The fresher the oil the better.
What it makes a engine oil fail is the wrong "weight" for the wrong usage.

Precisely, which is why I tend to say that M1 is "garbage" since I've seen good evidence that is shears significantly pretty quickly and becomes a thinner oil than you expected.

I like my oil when it is fresh out of the oven, and I don't even give it a chance to cool. ;)
Oil threads are hilarious and TL;DR.

Well oil.is also the first real DY project. So is normal to ask :)
There are definitely better oils than others.
If you change oil often tho is not that important.
On youtube there is a very nice comparison made by one of the best channel called PROJECTFARM.

Turned out pennzoil is a very very good one.

I'll second this - he makes a lot of very well done and meaningful comparisons - tools, oils, all kinds of stuff. Buys everything himself so its not advertised bullshit.

I typically purchase Mobil 1 for about CDN$33 for a 4.73L jug, which is equal to 5 US quarts and converts to about US$5.20/quart.

I still use it, but yeah.. its going up. such is life. I use it in all my mowers, cars, bikes etc. it may be a little pricier, but I havnt had anything blow in the 10 years ive been using them. knock on wood.
plus its nice, just ordering all the oil you need at once, once a year or so. free ship. to your door
I've used probably 10+ different brands throughout the years... I haven't had anything blow either... in 40 years. I think the real secret is regular maintenance. In my Mustang, I've been using the purple stuff, but not because I think it's any better than other synthetics. It's just fun pouring purple oil in my car! Makes it feel special! 😂

This is also what I run in my new Mach and my R6.

Went to purchase some Mobil 1 oil and the average price is now a whopping 10.00 a quart on average and I thought 6.00 a gallon for gas was bad.
It's been $9.99 a quart for 5W50 at least 2 years. Napa has regular sales on Mobil 1 though, at $5.99 a quart. I bought 4 changes last time, and still have 2 left. Save where you can.

I just did an oil change a month or so ago - (6) Qts. Mobil 1 Full Synthetic @ BJ Wholesale Club was $23.99...
