I don’t recommend running bias ply and mixing radials. It made for a very sketchy ride from the 1/8 mile to the finish when I tried running slicks out back.

I did also 60-130 hits. No problem with my setup. Have you ran a radial/bias mix ? It's a combo older than the hills.

If you shit sways, increase the rear tire pressure a couple psi. Don't hold the steering wheel at 12 o'clock. Don't over correct. Like I said, I made many passes and didn't even come remotely close to feeling 'sketchy'.

Just started looking at the same thing. I want staggered wheels, but not quite runners up front. Seems like options we slim, fairly certain I am going with F14s; 17x9.5 and 17x7. Don't plan on brembos, maybe the baers at some point. Also thought the nitto NT555RII 305/45/17 in the back and NT555 G2 255 /50 in the front. When I get serious go to the ET R tire.

Hey Blue, if you have a moment please check over my selections. I am new to the bias ply and radials but I believe the indy 500's and nitto 555r2's are both radials.

You can run any brand radial on the rear, different brand radial on the front & vica versa. You can run bias/radial as long as there on the same axle. You get into trouble if you run a radial/bias on the same axle.

That’ll work fine as a street/strip set up. I think you’ll be happy with the nittos. And 305s just look good on the car.

NT555RII will be best for your intended use. Anything else will just be a poor compromise when you do get caught in the rain.

If it helps, I run the Indy 500s in 275/40/19 as my daily tire, then had a set of Nt555rII in 275/40/17 for the track. I'd drive to the track on the Nittos - honestly they felt the same as having the Indy 500s out back.

I run M/T drag radial tires on the rear and skinny M/T tires up front, but on the highway they can be a bit scary and I hope I never get caught in the rain!

Thanks for the info guys. When it comes to running a different tire compound up front. Is there anything to really look for / be aware of?
555r2 in the rear and 555g2 in the front. Tread on both are matchish.

I ran this with 245/45R19 firehawks up front. Zero issues even with Mickey Thompson bias ply rears.

Now I run these up front with Mickey Thompson 28 x 6 x 18 radials. I foresee zero issues.
