I doubt it on regular surfaces. But it would be nice. Maybe on a incredibly well prepped drag strip. Where you have the lixury of some rollout?

100% certified grade A fake news

I suspect the author either made it up or got confused with the C8 press releases

Wish it was true but not without AWD and not weighing almost 4300 #. Its a great car I'm sure but sub 3 second is not happening without slicks.

Ford claimed the properly equipped 18 GT was capable of sub 4
Capable and joe mustang owner cabable are two different things.
So who knows ...but until I hear it from trump personally that it's fake news it must have happened somewhere And at sometime.

We will find out when and if Ford ever releases cars to the press

Some do and some don’t know how to drive but it will give us a good reasonable performance basis for the car.

I have been seeing this for months.
Most of these journalists don’t know what they’re doing.

Most, not all.

Here’s one...”We used the paddle shifters to hammer the GT-S through 60 mph in 3.6 seconds and the quarter-mile in 11.7 seconds at 124 mph. Those figures are improvements of 0.2 and 0.4 second, respectively, compared with the Mustang GT that the GT-S is based on. “
Another...
“This powertrain makes the Shelby GT500 capable of mid-three-second 0-60 mph and sub-11-second quarter-mile scores on the track.”
Why would 760 and 625 not be capable of 3 or sub 3 at 4400? It’s been done before with those numbers.
I am always amazed at the advancement of technology ...and especially Ford ..focused on generating what they do on the cid they use...
Personally I’m not interested in chasing a clock. I do know what 500+ hp feels like under my big toe an the respect it deserves. Most here on 6g would soil their shorts and or take out a crowd without modern nanny’s helping keep the peace.
If tires are the equalizer or what it takes to get it done so be it....
For most and myself ...you’ll know the capability is there without having to prove it to the internet. But someone will ...in short order.
We will see

2.9 sec is doable in terms of power.

Traction is always the question.

Did Ford build the suspension to plant the power?

There are tried and true rules for that.

The stock tire compounds seem to support some serious traction.

And another benefit of the dct is the best performance possible. And it’s consistent. Biased Journalists and bloggers alike will have a harder time sandbagging the car in performance tests.

The DCT is also bringing a better ability to manage power in acceleration. It’s not limited to clamping brakes anymore.

I’m not expecting anything under 3.3.

But I won’t be surprised at a 2.9.

The car is built really well.

It can't be true. All of the GT500 haters will wither up and die if it can do 0 to 60 in under 3 seconds

The hate is jealousy.

But the car doesn’t need fictitious numbers to fight against. It’s fast. But it’s not a sub 3 second car without swapping on some serious tire.

It’s important to read that article discerningly. It’s written poorly and makes some pretty remedial assumptions about Ford buyers. Reads like a 7th grade writing class.

It’s going off of old info (“more than 700 hp” instead of 760) as well and is basically trying to quote Fords official statements, but more than likely a mis-hearing of the “mid 3 second range” became “sub 3 in the writers mind.
