backward resonator

Going back to stock exhaust and put the stock resonator back on with stock mufflers and the car is super quiet. Hell the vvt is louder then the exhaust. My car sounds more like a crown Vic 4.6 then a 5.0... Had exhaust shop put everything back in but how do I know if my resonator is...
