Shiny Black Grill?

Call me crazy, but I like the look of the 2018 Mazda CX-5 grill... It’s a shiny piano black plastic with an almost lacquered look to it.

Any ways to make a OEM 2015 GT grill look like that? Is it a matter of painting?

Any thoughts?

The 18 Mustang has the same shiny grille

You can definitely get it painted. Some people (namely socal2fast I think) have had every piece of plastic trim painted gloss black and it looks great.

Oh! It does? I live in Japan and I’ve only seen one 18 so far... A base Ecoboost.
It had a usual matte black grill.

I might look into getting my grille painted here!

The CS grills are shiny black...see them on ebay all the time.

Two questions. Did you do the side skirts as well? How is that holding up to rock chips and other road debris?

Can't answer to how it's holding up, but yes he did all the plastic pieces to be gloss black. You can see the side skirts clearest on the 4th picture in his link. If you look close, you'll see they even did the piece holding the mirrors to the body.
