Morning all,

Yesterday, I upgraded to a 2018 Mustang GT Premium, with Performance Package. This was from a 2017 Mustang GT, with All Season tyres.

The 2018 has Michelin tyres, 255 front and 275 rear, 19" (40ZR).

All that to ask, for those living in Georgia, USA, do those Summer tyres do okay in Winter/Rain if using the Snow/Rain mode?

No space at the house/garage to have another set of tyres and rims. Plus, I just don't want to.

Thanks for ideas, suggestions and feedback.

Many summer tires, like the PS4S you have on your performance pack, are better in the rain than all seasons. They are very good in wet conditions and down to about 40-50 degrees. Below that they'll be tricky to drive in anything other than dry and I wouldn't recommend driving on them at all below 30 degrees. A separate set for winter is a good idea, although in Georgia I probably wouldn't bother.

^this.

They're very good down to sub freezing (dry) temps, but wont be safe in any kind of frozen precipitation. Below freezing they can crack a bit if the temps change too quickly. They're very very good in the wet, perhaps the best tire in wet conditions that I've ever driven on.

If you just have a few days below freezing, I'd probably run them year round like we do in Texas.

I had Pzero Summer tires and they were junk below 55, no traction, I parked the car for most of the winter. I have Continental All Seasons now and an able to drive year round.

I've always had summer tires on my Mustang. I have all-seasons on the stock wheels for if I do a road trip just for a softer ride and if I have to go up to Chicago in the winter, which I will never do again as every piece of rustable factory metal started rusting after spending only ONE WEEK there in the winter. Not a fan of summer tires <40 degrees.

I use Continental Sports. Michelins are great, too.

If you're worried about it, I'll trade you my PP wheels with almost brand new Conti DWS tires (all-seasons; 2K miles) for your PP wheels with Michelin summer tires! Haha.

I run the PZeroes year round. When it is below 40 they take a few minutes to get up to temp much like road race slicks, but I've never had a problem with them. Most of my miles are OTR and I have 26k on the original set.

Just don't drive for the 2 days a year there is winter precipitation on the ground and you'll be fine

Nobody sane drives around here with snow/ice on the roads. Only two days a year, if even. It's a big party for the day, then the sun comes out and melts everything.

Ah, nice. So no issues during the Atlanta snowpocalypse :)

I appreciate all the feedback. At first, I felt I was overthinking tyres.
After all, we've already spent a fortune on our cars, and then to think one has to buy another set of tyres.

Ugh, the horror...!

I don't think the OP is from GA, or his 'i' key is broken...lol
He might have a bonnet though.
