So, for all it’s capability, the ZL1 1LE was unable to pull off the 2017 Performance Car of the Year award. In 2016, the GT350R was able to win the PCOTY trophy against several cars of significantly higher MSRP. Oh, well, silver is nothing to hang your head about.

You mean 2018 PCOTY. And the Camaro at 70k lost to a 380k Mclaren 720s...What point are you trying to make?

Also the ZL1 1LE will obliterate a 350R.

Well the GT350 did beat out a 661hp. $260,000 Ferrari. In 2016. Just sayin.:D

The ZL1 1LE, similar to the past Z/28 is poorly designed with excessively stiff suspension and tacked on looking aero devices.

I think that's the point. The ZL1 1LE can produce a good magazine time, but it is not a great car to drive.

This. I owned a GT350R and have driven a Gen5 z/28 and Gen6 ZL1 1LE on public roads. The latter two are not street friendly at all.

Sorry about the muffed dates. All I was saying was that the ZL1 1LE could not win it’s PCOTY competition. And it SHOULD beat the GT350R. it was designed to.

PCOTY isn't about track performance. It's about dual track/street ability. That's why the 1LE will never win PCOTY

Classic that everyone here still has a boner for the award given 2 years ago. I thought magazines didn't mean anything...

They are both great cars. Not sure I understand the point of this thread other than to try to compensate for the fact that the 350R is nowhere close to the performance of the ZL1 1LE.

Correct. Both are great cars and the 3-year old GT350R does not perform as well as the newly released ZL1 1LE. The point was that the GT350R was able to take home a PCOTY award whereas the ZL1 1LE was not.

Man, those ZL1 1LE owners must be really disappointed in their car. Second place in a subjective contest to a McLaren

If the ZL1 1LE would have won, then there would have likely been a similar thread here about how the competition is 2 years apart and the two cars can't be compared.

Maybe if Ford would hurry up and get the GT500 out we could enjoy an actual comparison. Here's to hoping Ford is able to surpass the amazing performance of the ZL1 1LE.

Don't you realize that the mags are correct and very meaningful when they pick Ford but they don't mean anything when they pick Chevy?

You can even see in ADMs and sales prices of the cars. The ZL1 and ZL1 1LE are being discounted to try to get sales because few people want them. Meanwhile there still are ADMs on the GT350R. I wish Chevy would make better cars so that Ford would push out the GT500 more quickly. As it is, the Mustang from 4 model years ago is still better than Chevy's latest, greatest effort.

If the performance comes at the cost of drivability, I hope the GT500, if it comes, does not put down better performance numbers than the ZL1 1LE.

Here's to hoping the new Ford doesn't shake the driver's fillings out or cause back injuries.

You guys are such pussies. Buy a track car then complain that the suspension is too stiff? Give me a break.

Is that gonna be the excuse if somehow the GT500 doesn't end up being faster than the ZL1 1LE?
