I decided to do a little dressing up under the hood yesterday. I installed an led light strip near the hood latch and a position switch under the insulation pad on one of the threaded studs from the vent extractor. These two items are shown in the bottom picture. I also wanted to put a vanity plate on the radiator cover but they are very expensive and aren't illuminated. I saw where people are selling the illuminated door sill plates as low as $24. I got this idea when I saw how easy it was to remove the illuminated part, flip it 180 degrees and hot glue it back in. I broke off the two retainer studs and used double sided tape to fasten it to the radiator cover. This way the radiator cover is not modified. I wired the sill plate to the same circuit as the hood light switch so it comes on with the hood light. Just like in the door sills it needs to be dark to see them light up. The whole project was under $40.
UPDATE, 2/18/2018, here is the link to the photos previously hosted on photobucket. The last three photos were taken today. After 10 months the sill plate is still working fine.
