"The R package won't cost much more than the difference in a well optioned GT and the base GT350"

Here comes the 45k base GT350.

For some reason, I thought that Nav was included with other packages and wasn't a stand alone option.

Tech Package = $7500, that sounds very very steep

c7 charges no more than 1900 for MagneRide,
the leather seats are no more than 1100 over cloth recaro
how it can add up to 7500 is beyond me

something can't be right. The R pkg includes the Track package, but is listed as $3000 less than the track pkg alone.

Interesting. Although it doesn't make a lot of sense.

According to these prices, a GT350R w/touring pkg would cost the same as GT350 w/track pkg. So its almost the same car but with ceramic brakes and carbon fibre wheels included.

Seems too good to be true.

Based on the price of those options, I think a $45K GT350 sounds pretty reasonable... Those are some pricey add-ons. I'm sure that's where they're making most of their money.

It seems to me that you would have to have a Track or Tech Pack to select the R option.

Track pack gets you suspension tuning, mag ride and wheels.. R gets you lightweighting, remove backseat and red accents?

Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Maybe they heard all the bitching about not being able to get the larger nav screen with the track pack. I hope so, anyway. :) It still might be the case that the tech package includes nav and that the option is really only meant for track pack? Could be why the track pack is 1k cheaper.
