For what it does and for what it's worth you really don't need much more than the nylon dog strap in my original DIY. Simple, black, cheap, still works every time it's tried.

Sorry. I checked with my lawyer and she says if I get hung up in the strap and dragged, I can't sue you for posting the DIY way like I could a store. So am going with the store bought. ;)

Buy these:

CLIPS

Then buy these:

Cool Straps

Combine and profit.... And sue ebay if you have too!

5 straps with extras for less than 15 bucks.

Give the others away to the people who contributed to this thread.

I just may click BUY IT NOW on those two items.

I guess some have a phobia of drilling a hole in their precious mustang, but I have a whopping $1 invested in mine.

Afraid of drilling a hole in sheetmetal, which isnt even a necessity, but will happily change suspension, which ford spent bucketloads on development, and will install F/I units to double horsepower.

Strange world indeed.

thanks to all for this idea. I bought the plastic clip today at Autozone, its called a GM body retainer, came in a 2 pack, part number C-50, 461030AA. About 4 bux for 2 of them. Used a 1" nylon strap I had at home. Cut it short enough to easily grab the loop, but the loop is not long enough to get pinched between the trunk and the rubber trunk seal. Great mod.

I installed my trunk closer strap from SpaceCitySpy, and it’s a perfect add-on to the S550!

installed the trunk strap, was working good. I decided to remove the driver side trunk strut as other members have done, dont really like it, the trunk closes way too easy and slams shut if youre not super careful. Will probably re install the trunk strut.

Anybody have a carbon fiber trunk lid? I should have mine installed this summer, and that might be good with just one strut.
