This is probably the most comprehensive discussion on the pros/cons of catch cans I've yet seen.

He hit the nail on the head with the "amateur hour" comment.

That definitely can apply to a lot of comments in this section... lol

The guy from Auto Expert is a douche canoe, BTW we are all dead according to him cause the Mustang is a death trap. Oh but ignore other cars with similar ratings, they are fine.

He just wants to be inflammatory, thats it.

EDIT: I was trying to find his opinion, but in 6 minutes he's jerked off over people jerking off over catch cans, said blowby exists and is now talking about exhaust gas re circulation, still zero on catch cans.

Not everyone understands the purpose of a catch can, so he explains it in detail. If you didn't watch the entire video then how do you know whether his position on catch cans is intended to be inflammatory? It would be nice if you would critique his position on catch cans (the topic of this thread) instead of his editorial process.

His opinion regarding the safety of the Mustang is based on the export version, which for some reason Ford chose to exclude several key safety features. And it isn't just his opinion.

Im sure those like 3 minutes of my time explaining that incognito mode is used for catch can porn was the most concise way of explaining how they work, as I said in 6 minutes, about 20 seconds was actual information on what a catch can does.

All he was doing was setting you up for "hurr durr well they look up catch can porn so they are dummies with their dummy catch can porn opinion" and not trying to explain anything.

The reason why he is inflammatory and biased is because he said to ignore the poor safety rating of the base Kia Stinger, because well it doesn't matter. But it does in a Mustang, but doesn't in a stinger, because logic.

Many people who post technical content on YouTube try to make it as entertaining as possible, otherwise you get a very narrow audience. So we get that you don't like his presentation format or his humor. What did you think of his reasoning about the necessity of a catch can?

I get that you don't like this guy, but I haven't found anything yet that he's published that's too far off the mark. I just looked up the Euro NCAP ratings for both the Stinger and the Mustang. NCAP rates the Stinger at five stars and the Mustang at two. As far as I can tell the NHTSA has not yet tested the Stinger. Can you tell us what data you have about the Kia's safety?

3 stars for the base model, however looking further this was just changed and ones after March of this year are all 5 stars regardless of trim level.
All the rating agencies changed the rules between the first release of the Mustang in 2015 and the Stinger's introduction in late 2017. Under the new rules, cars are automatically downgraded if they don't include nanny systems like lane assist and automatic emergency braking. Base model Stingers built before Feb 2018 did not include these, which is why they were initially given 3 stars. Since then Kia has included these systems on all variants.

2015 Mustang is on the newest system AFAIK, part of my gripe is they dont say which rating system the star rating is on, the Fiat 500 under ANCAP is 5 star cause its literally a decade old rating, and in Europe its 3 star IIRC cause they tested a newer model against the newer standards.

The NHTSA started rating cars under the new system starting with the 2018 model year.

Yeah, it's confusing. If I were a manufacturer I would make an effort to educate people about the changes. I know you don't like him, but John Cadogan did a pretty good job of explaining the changes in the video where he discussed the Kia Stinger's rating.

The bottom line is Ford deleted some pretty basic safety devices (related to rear-passenger seat belts I believe) from the export versions of the Mustang, so it's poor rating has nothing to do with the electronic nannies. I think Cadogan's evisceration of the Mustang was a bit of overwrought hand wringing myself. I'm 6'3", so the lack of back seat passenger restraint equipment isn't a consideration for me. Even with my 5'4" wife driving no one is going to fit comfortably in the back seat of this car.

and the war against catch can continues, oh to have so much free time in life to dedicate it to such a noble pursuit of no catch cans on 0 cars in the world by constantly posting on a mustang forum must be great
