I thought I would try a K&N panel filter on my 17 GT based on the MotoIQ testing and years of using them on other vehicles. The problem I found is after installing it is the clips that hold the filter housing together barely clip at all. The filters gasket is much thinner than the oem filter (almost .100 thinner) so the clips do almost nothing to hold the halves together. Anybody else run into this issue?
This is probably going back so what other panel filters are you guys using/liking?
Thanks

Maybe it got pushed into the airbox? It's a little janky getting it to seat flush. FWIW, I'm running an AEM Dryflow (with a Mishi intake tube, modified OEM airbox and Velossa intake ducts).

I also used the AEM dry when I had my stock airbox and it fit perfectly.

Same issue here using green filter. I'm not even sure it's sealed all the way. Probably just going to stick the stock one back on.

The filter fits the lower housing with little side to side movement so I don’t think it’s getting pushed into the housing. Just a difference in the thickness of the sealing flange that makes it loose when you clIp the halves together. I did contact K&N and they were going to check into it.

Just a quick update on this filter issue. The K&N filter was sent back and after 3 days still haven’t gotten a reply from K&N concerning the gasket thickness( great customer service!). I decided to try an AFE pro dryS filter(31-10255). The difference in fit is night and day. The filters gasket is the same thickness as the oem as it should be, and the filter housing clips together tightly. Very happy with this filter. Even the packaging is much better than K&N.

Cool, yeah, a simple drop in filter should not be a big PITA. Hope you get some kind of compensation/refund on the K&N.

Bought the K&N from Amazon so I had the refund before they even got the package back!

Is this the same K&N filter used in Ford PP1 (M-9603-M8)? This concern has not been brought up in any reviews.

I assume it is, I think they only make one for our cars. Maybe I had a bad one or maybe a bad batch but it sure didn’t fit as it should.
