:frusty: over last few days I've been experiencing a misfire effect I put it down to the fact I put Asda fuel in the stang probably a bad mistake anyway today I got the engine management light come on, plugged it into forscan and confirmed there's an actual misfire on piston 8 only...

So booked in to Ford for Friday they'll look at it while I'm on holiday all I need before going away!

This is what the DTC said on forscan:

Status
- DTC Maturing - Intermittent at Time of Request
- Malfunction Indicator Lamp is On for this DTC
- Test not complete
Module: Powertrain Control Module

Diagnostic Trouble Code details
Possible causes:
Low fuel warning:lol:
Blocked, kinked or crushed fuel lines
Fuel contamination
Evaporative emission control system malfunction
EGR system fault
Base Engine fault
Check for other codes

Then on ODB2 DTC
Cylinder 8 misfire detected

To be honest it could be something stupidly simple like the plugs gone to shite, or the coil pack got something in it that it shouldn't.

The fact it's actually done a CEL for it; says it's a bit further out of parameters of a false missfire :(!

Ford should be able to fix it pretty quick. It's worth a check yourself on the plugs just to see if it looks a bit retarded.

Yeah just had a quick look under the bonnet and took the engine cover off but couldn't see anything glaringly obvious... I may have another look in a bit but as it's only piston 8 I'll check around there just gotta figure out which one is piston 8

Engine cover off won't do much, need to pop the sparky out.

front left is 1, back right is 8 (That's left and right as you look at the car from the front).

Don't try anything, take it too Ford, though it is extremely rare now on gen2 Coyote you still get the odd failure on cylinder 8, so I'd not try to diagnose myself as you don't want Ford having any wriggle room as that is generally an engine replacement job.

Like Manders says its most likely something far less serious, poor fuel, fouled plug or not gapped correctly from factory (does happen).

Yeah I'm not that well clued up on this sort of thing so I'll probably leave it to ford, I hope it's not an engine replacement job!

Well if it keeps missfiring and the cylinder shits itself, it'll be that ;)!

Haha yeah, I've done some research, as you do when you panic about stuff, and it can be the flaps in the intake manifold... I thought the throttle body controlled the air flow not additional flaps in the manifold... Makes for interesting watch...

Could certainly be that, time for an MY18 manifold and tune, good 70HP gain by doing so. ;)

On a similar topic, has anyone suffered from a hesitation when setting off in 1st?
I get an occasional slight dip and then it’s off (almost likes it’s going to stall) Passed a stationary tractor once on a narrow lane and as I set off in 1st to cain it, that happened. I put it down to all the safety kicking in but it wasn’t.
Car totally standard. Dealer can’t find anything wrong and always used Shell fuel.

Put your foot into it ;)

(Could be a dodgey clutch/something tranny related)?
