I have a 17 and the daytime running lights are the fog lights only. I would have expected the same on the 18s. I can't recall any 18s driving around in Canada with the headlights on in the day.
I believe that the lights to the interior of the headlights are the running lights on the 2018s.

Thank you very very much! Im hoping that the dealership here does have the Ford scan tool and will be able to access that information.
If not, could you please ask her if changing the entire lights module will help resolve the problem?

Thank you so much again...

It's the law in Canada.
Correct and been that way for almost 30 years. All new cars sold in Canada after December 1, 1989 were required to have daytime running lights. When we travel in the U.S. we still see daylight headlight test stretches of highway. Is this an individual state thing?

Im wondering if it is necessary for it to be the Ford Scan tool in order to deactivate the running lights...Maybe some other tool can be used?

Personal opinion... i turn my lights on every time i drive my car. Im in canada and dislike the drl. I think the lights look much much better and sexier on. I upgraded bulbs corners, blinkers and fogs to 6k. I hate them off

Hey buddy, I talked with my Service Manager today. She said that yes, all the dealer has to do is plug in the scan tool, scroll to the DRL section and turn them off. However, she said there is a slim chance that the car will not have that section. Hope your's does.

Hi Jim!

Thank you so much for your help, I will pass this on to my garage and see what they say / can do...hopefully it will be there..

Did she say by any chance why it might not be there?

Thank you!

Hi Brent!

Did you change that by any chance on your Mustang? Maybe you know the exact process?

Thank you! :)

I have the 2016 Canadian CS shipped to the UK from Canada, is it such a big deal? they are only the 2 little lights at the bottom.

There are some people who don't seem to understand the issue in the original post.

2015-2017 Mustang's = DRL unless it's dark out, otherwise they switch to full time lights
DRL = should be minimal exterior lighting (front inner hash lights and lower fog lights, not main headlights). Same behaviour is active for both Canada and US models.

2018+ Mustang's = there is no DRL behaviour as above. The lights are always on full (front headlights, tail-lights, lower fog lights etc)
2018 DRL should be the same as 2015-2017, with only the front inner hash lights and lower fog lights, instead of all the lights being full time all the time.

I have a 2019 and this is still an issue.
