Saturday the track was slow & a little slippery in the turns, warm and humid with the track slowing a great deal after lunch. I had a lot of fun harassing a couple of Porshe owners, they were fast as hell on the straights but were practicing their parallel parking skills in the corners. Very hard to get a clean lap at this track with it being so long you get traffic on nearly every lap. Not my fastest lap of the weekend but the video below shows some of the P-cars I was able to harass, they really do not like pointing by a Mustang.:giggle:

Picked up some more time from last year but other than throwing on a fresh set of rubber I am not sure I have much left to give on this track. I was finally brave enough to run the kink with just a small breath of the throttle and not touching the brakes at all. Its a mental thing for me because I know the car will hold through there flat out.

Lots of S550 Mustang there, great to see so many playing with their Mustangs.

I was there Saturday only! Fun track. First time on street tires and I managed a whopping 2:41.2 in beginner group on my last session (second to last of the day). I’ll take it...

Instructors were great, especially Santiago who helped me finally from being lost as an abandoned puppy. Would love to go back again, but I'll need more free time before. I was moving my mother ALL WEEK prior up until 11PM the night before and I had to drive from Palatine, IL to the track the morning of. Idiot...

Thanks, but the 2nd car I built was there as well, its a GT350 build that is a clone of my setup and he was running consistent 2:29.xx and 2:30.xx as well. That car will get faster as the driver does. I hate to say it because there is always something to learn but I think I have got all I can get on that track, it will take fresh tires and more HP to change much more. Road America is such a fun track, I love it because of the speed, but it is not a track that the Mustang is well suited for. Gearing is wrong and need more HP to compete there.

Totally agree that Road America is not suited to the gearing. At least with my 3.73 gears and slightly shorter tires, I could top out 5th gear for a while and moving to 6th is always risky (not a strong gear, intended for cruising) and ill timed (gonna have to do it right before a turn). If I wasn't able to extend out to 7600 RPM on my car, I'd be pretty frustrated. Here I'd want at least 3.55s, which IMO are superior for road course (if they are Torsen) anyway. 3.55 Mustangs beat me in lap times at Road Atlanta, too. I mean... they're more willing to go 100+ into Turn 1 there, but... still.

I'm out in the south west and the fastest road course we have is Willow Springs (not counting the Auto Club roval). My motor is still stock, but I haven't been able to tap out in 5th there. I will be moving to the FP PP3 option though in order to stay smog compliant and get more legs out of the gearing. Some of the tracks I've been at have required a quick shift to 4th or 5th before the next corner which is annoying. The extra RPM is going to help.
