Just picked my Gt350 from the dealer today after having them fix a "Service Charging System" (Turned out to be a damaged connector) and change my brake pads back to stock after a track weekend.

I was driving home and noticed after 15 miles of highway driving (62 mph in 5th, outside temp is mid 80's) the temp needle still was not in the middle between C and H as it usually is. Oil temp was normal. I Checked cylinder head temp and it was @ 175-181 for several miles. Revved it out and it felt flat. The next time I looked (probably 30 seconds later) it is 195 and rising, car felt like it had more power. Idling in my driveway after I got home it was 218 before I shut it off.

To me it seems as though the thermostat may be sticking open. I know is a fairly common occurrence in these cars.

What do you guys think?

If your coolant temp isn't coming up within 10 minutes than I'd say a thermostat prob. Mine is always centered between L and H after about 10 min.

Almost positive it is a thermostat problem...just took it for a quick 15 mile round trip to the closest gas station with 93. Check Engine Light came on and the temp never got above 189 degrees the whole trip...

Just got her back. Glad I discovered this before the upcoming track weekend! Back to the dealer on Monday.

I randomly get P0128 coolant thermostat (coolant temperature below thermostat regulating temperature). Obvious low power and exhaust note is off, too. Clearing code and a restart fixes; now I need it to come on when it is convenient to make a dealer trip.

Yup

Happened to me after my first event.

I swapped it out myself, 30 min job with a mityvac
Any issues with the replacement thermostat? Has the part # changed or has the new thermostat been improved?

Just curious if this is going to be a reoccurring problem...

Thanks!

She is at the dealer now. I am hoping they can get a new part quickly.

I wonder if it is a supplier issue on a batch of these or if it is a design problem of the thermostat.

Apparently the new one is a revision

If you have a bad thermostat you should not be driving it all over the place, especially the highway

Yup...she is at the dealer awaiting the fix...

Thanks!

I had the same issues a few days ago and changing the thermostat fixed it.
I also wonder if the new part is different and if it will not stick open again in the future... I'm carefully monitoring all temperatures now but it's been over 2 weeks and so far no issue.

What's retail on the new thermostat? Might be good insurance to keep a spare handy in case an immediate need arises?

Does anyone have the revised part # for the updated GT350 thermostat?

What is the temp for it?

The one Ford service pulled out was rated at 180 degrees, the new one they just got in for it is rated at 190 degrees...what's going on here? Is it 190 or 180?

After mine gt350r is warmed up and running the thermostat reads between 210-220

Is this normal temp when the car has been running over 15+ minutes,

I'm receiving no errors. I do notice the engine runs hot....
