It wasn't Ford claiming the weight reduction but rather all the magazine speculators.

Dave Pericak said in an interview that weight savings was one of their goals and 200lbs seemed doable.

Most of the time this means "comparably equipped" Its one of the problems they had with the F150 when magazines testing the new aluminum ones whined about it not being much lighter.... when they were comparing a loaded platinum vs the old high end lariat/king ranch. Pretty night and day difference in max features between a 15 and a 09, which would be the last F150 many reviewers borrowed from Ford.

Same deal here in part, the mustang picked up weight in performance and luxury items not present on the last gen. They could have kept the smaller brakes, less tire, more flexible body, etc. They could also have gone "tesla" style and made a featureless dash with a single radio/hvac glued on.

Then again, imagine if the 2015 had a 5.0 with a "LX" package that had the base brakes, narrow tires, stripped trunk, lightwieght manual seats, etc. Would need to keep the squishy dash materials just to dodge more crash tests.

And how many GT500 owners were "butthurt"?

That car went what, 7 model years?
What?
There are bigger changes between the GT500 years than the GT350 changes. This is the 4th year with the GT350 and has had only minimal changes.

Basically every 3 years (or less) the GT500 has had either a motor change or refresh. I would be disappointed if Ford stuck with the same front/rear and no other improvements for 2019.

I love both GT350/GT500, but the fact that Ford is making these cars 4+ years now with minimal changes it is time for a refresh for 2019. Specially if they are going to keep making these in large numbers.

Ive been watching that thread I cant tell if anyone got it to work.
I got a 2013 GT500 cluster to work perfectly in my 2011 GT500. Many GT owners have done it as well with no issues.

When should we know of any changes made to the GT350 for 2019. I feel like at this time last year all the butthurt started cause it was confirmed for 2018.
Maybe the only butthurt is coming from all those saying everyone else is butthurt. LOL. The fact that some are still claiming butthurt is seriously the most childish thing I have read in this forum. Really, really childish. Sound like my kids. SMH.

Cars are not investments !!

This butthurt talk is a waste of everyone’s time. It’s hard enough having to read through 6 pages of comments let’s not make it harder.

Let’s stick to the information about the car. I am one of the many here looking for information in an attempt to decide wether to buy a 350 or wait to see what this 500 will bring.

I think the GT 350 in 2019 will remain the same no sense in building new tooling for a outgoing model.

The GT 500 in what ever form it takes will be one fast mother******

That said I think on road courses the GT350/Rs will still remain the better choice as it will most certainly remain lighter than the 500. I think for a few fast laps the new 500 will most certainly set some new records but with the extra power and most likely additional weight it will wear out the tires in short order.

My theory is the 500 will certainly be a very capable monster on the road course for short sessions but in a longer sessions will most likely start falling off as the laps increase. The 350/Rs will stay much more consistent even if a little slower the driving experience will remain awesome and extremely satisfying.

The 500 will certainly hurt a lot of feelings though from other brands.

Either car be it the 350/R or 500 will be awesome and it is just the next exercise in technology. As long as neither car gets electric motors we should all remain happy to know the Internal Combustion Engine is still around and makes satisfying sounds and power and drinks gas wastefully!
