Thanks for the video - I didn't know about the history. I stay away from stripes because to me they are like red paint.. They call too much attention that I don't want or need. I do like them on other people's cars though.

Interesting video on who invented racing stripes.

One of the reasons, for me, that a Shelby should always have stripes!
Cool video! thanks for sharing. However, I do not see my R as a Shelby and therefore no stripes. She is however 110% bonafide GT350R.

The GT350s come from the factory with stripes, unless the car has the stripe-delete option, of course.

I think he's talking about 1965, which the dealers put the stripes on back then. From what I read.

I like stripes, but just because it says Shelby, doesn't mean it is one. Elvis left the building a while ago. It is a name that Ford pays for.

White car?? Gotta have blue stripes. Looks, nostalgia, what ever label you want to put on it. Ironically, white is our only color I don’t like without stripes. Anything else after that is personal preference. Some I can take or leave. Grabber blue...no stripes. Black with flat black stripes?? HELL YEA; the most sinister car on the road today.

Holy cow Chris...never realized a Cobra was that tiny (or our cars are that huge).
Enjoyed the video but to each their own ;)

On these GT350s, stripes are an added option for $695. You either pay it or
don’t, no delete option you just don’t order it.

After assembly, they’re sent to the mod shop for installation then shipped from the factory. Google it, one of the stories has hundreds of 350s lined up waiting on stripes...

My dealer is third gen owner. He tells me when a Shelby came in, quality was somewhat suspect (no big surprise ). He said SA applied the stripes back in the day, not Ford.

A Shelby without stripes? I think not
But sometimes..... there is no choice / no option (from the factory that is). ;)

No stripes is just cleaner.

Notice none of the other makes (besides american) whore out the stripes? I can only think of 1 ferrari (458 speciale) and 1 porsche (911r & it looks like shite).

Sometimes stripes look cool, but when you see a regular 5.0 or even an eco boost mustang with stripes i just cringe. Same goes with a v6 challenger. JMO.

I love stripes. My favorite color combination is white with blue strips because it is just classic. Yet I own a 2017 avalanche grey with black roof and NO strips. Why?

Because stripes make the car look like it is going faster. The limit of my cars speed is not the car itself, but rather how fast law enforcement thinks I am going. The car is already an in your face vehicle. I don't need to be in their face and rubbing it in.

Guaranteed, my buddies yellow with black stripes car will get picked up first even if I was passing him. If I had more self control then maybe I would have stripes. :)

I cringe when I read "stripe delete" - No such thing on a 350.

Just to correct the record: $475 for the stripes, $695 for the black roof.
