Ideas on exhaust Rasp

I have a Procharged 15 GT with the following parts...no cats, no resonators.

1 7/8s Stainless Works Long Tube Headers
Magnaflow Competition Cat-Back 3"


The car sounds AMAZING during low rpm idle and driving but as soon as I get on it then it sounds like it is made of tin cans and sounds TERRIBLE. Things I have yet to do is check torque on headers and recheck after cat-back install for leaks. The drone was cool at first but it's pretty bad. It's pretty much a straight through exhaust, even the muffler I could stick my arm through. Should I install some cats? Bullet resonators? Any help is greatly appreciated. -Shane

The best way to clean up raspy exhausts in my experience is having a "resonator" (straight through muffler of decent size) mid way through the exhaust, about halfway between header and tail pipe, and then another near the exit. That gives it a really clean tone and keeps it pretty loud. Also shouldn't cost you any power at all.

Welp.... you seem to already have a handle on the problem. Hi-flow cats cost almost nothing in terms of power, nor does a decent couple of bullet resonators. People get to damn hung up on "free flowing" exhaust. Its not like it really matters if you make 651hp instead of 662 when you can't stand to be in the car with that extra 10 hp.

I'm going to have Dynomax mini bullets to my exhaust in place of the fake cats/canisters. Also going to add a 2nd x pipe section to my x pipe just to make it sound different.

Magnaflow sells 2.5" and 3" dual in dual out tru-x resonators. Get one. I use one and love it.

Does it help stop drone,or just quiet the exhaust up,i dont mind loud but hate drone.

Drone is non existent now. I was annoyed before with the Xpipe, trans always found itself at 1500rpm and drone was bad. That was with LTs, HFCs, xpipe, and magnaflow mufflers. So I swapped it around and went LTs, no cats, magnaflow tru-x and magnaflow mufflers. Its perfect at part throttle and no drone. Still screams at WOT.

Didn't know that they have a 3" version. I may replace the H on my MBRP system with this when I take the cats off.

Do you have link to 3" resonated tru x. I cant find it

I just bit the bullet and ordered a MF tru x from CJPP. Neighbors will be friendly to me again as I leave for work at 0530.

Is this part meant to fit in place of the current X? Isn’t the x much longer?

Muffler shop can install it. Headers dump right on it on one side. Other side weld.
