Nothing too surprising there, but an interesting read nonetheless. They really shouldā€™ve tested a manual with a 3.73 gears though, just to eliminate another difference.

I still prefer to drive a manual, though I understand that Iā€™m now in the shrinking minority.

Multiplying the torque for sure. Once the revs reach peak the auto keeps it in the powerband very efficiently.

Not surprising.

What I didn't see mentioned was that Ford gutted the ratios for the 18 manual as well. It would've been closer with the 15-17 MT82, albeit still a loss. The shorter ratios combined with a higher redline is powerful, but for some reason they stripped it away.

The 18 mt-82 are breaking shift forks because ford decided to go cheap with aluminum shift forks. Don't they know that aluminium in that application is weaker then steel?

Seems off a little to me. I don't doubt 1/2 sec quicker in the 1320, but not sure I'm buying a full sec behind at 100 mph and making up 1/2 sec in that last 400-500 ft. I still think with a tune and tires, the M6 can be in the 11's. Hopefully, we'll soon find out.

I thought the manual did have 3.73's...according to the tech info anyway? Right?

Technology will always get better. Man has already hit his limit of performance. If you wanna go fast and be consistant. Get the Automatic. If you don't care about a couple 10ths. Get what you want. Side note. Heck of a trap speed for a hot day. 119 is amazing.

I have no insight as to the validity of the post but it is being spread. My son and his friends who are not on here told me the same thing. So itā€™s being spread regardless if true or not.

Again, I have no first hand knowledge one way or the other.

Great article, one I think many of us were looking for. It wouldn't stop me from buying the manual, but it's great to see a perfect match-up of auto vs. manual.

Two things struck me from the stats;

1. Weight. These are damned heavy cars.
2. Dat lateral G tho!!!!! 1g for the manual!!! I think that's largely down to the new MP4S tires. Gonna' put them on my car next. Don't know why though, I've never taken my car past .72G in a corner.

I suck.....

I do believe motortrend applies correction factors to their 1/4 mile times.

I noted the difference in the lateral G as well. It doesn't state they both are PP cars but judging by the stats I'm guessing they are...

They do. Im pretty sure they correct to see level. Where I race we see DA of -2000. So compared a 119 trap to the 2017s 114 trap. Pretty anazing.

Gotta be. I'd guess a standard GT wouldn't get much past .85 or so. Plus the weight being so similar.

I can't imagine having the power, without the control. Gotta do at least PP1 on these cars.
