Forthcoming Sync 3 update

After contacting Ford Customer Relations about my issue with Sygic Navigation and Sync 3 http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php?t=90109 I have received a response from them confirming that Sygic only works with the US version of Sync 3.

But there is however, an update to Sync 3 due in October, this is what they said: "...There is a software update due around the 17th October (this date may change as it is currently being tested). It is expected that Sygic App will work once the update is completed. Please note: the update will not work through the Auto update feature, and therefore this will be through a download from a new webpage linked to the Ford Motor Company national web site to PC and onto a 32GB Memory stick, then into the car (due to the size of download). Should you experience any issues with downloading the software once it has been released, then please contact your local Ford Dealership who will be able to complete this for you..."

When it becomes available I will post the link but would appreciate if anyone else finds it before me!

Hopefully this update will resolve some of the bugs in the current version of Sync 3 including the swapping of the dual climate control zones which is now happening every time I drive the car :doh:

What's the advantage of this over Google Maps or Waze?

Neither Google Maps or Waze will display on the Sync 3 screen using an iPhone and AppLink and my ageing eyes need the bigger screen.

Also, Sync 3 is extremely buggy and needs an update plus Ford's own UK App Catalogue states that Sygic works with Sync 3, it doesn't I've asked them to remove it from the Catalogue.

Oh okay. Another reason to change to Android! Google maps and Waze works fine on Android with Sync 3.

Just received a call from Felicity @ Ford C/S - Sync3 v3.0 now officially available as an update from v2.2, Dealer only ATM so will book mine into Haynes for this to be done and report back.

She doubts that this will ever be made available as an OTA update (too big) or via download and USB stick; not sure what changes it brings but hopefully fixes some of the bugs in the current version (along with introducing new ones I guess :doh

Isn’t Waze becoming a standalone app on sync 3?

I have a friend staying this coming weekend with a brand new Kuga so be interesting to see what Sync version it has (most probably 2.2 I would think...)

It already is a standalone app on Android Auto

Booked it at Haynes, Maidstone to have the update applied on Friday 9th Feb.

Hi guys quick question how do you know if a car has sync2 or sync3? The car i am collecting says it has sync2 but i though all cars with the antenna block on the roof near the rear window means it has syn3?

Here’s the link to the advert can you guys tell from the pictures if it’s Sync3? It actually says at the top of the advert it’s sync3 but the autotrader advert is different for some reason?

Sync 3 from the UI shown in the photographs - and of course it's got the nipple on the roof.
