Hey guys, I'm getting popping noises again from what I think is the axles. After I changed the stock axles to the DSS 2000hp axles I put about 500 miles on my car and the drivers side started popping. I could make it do it everytime by easing forward, stopping, put in reverse, then easing backards... like clockwork everytime. So, I popped the rear wheels off and checked the torque. The passenger side was fine but the drivers side was loose. I tightened it up to spec and boom problem solved. Fast forward 3 months... the popping is back, I can't make it so it like I could before but it's definitely making noise back there. I'm going to take the wheels off tmrw and check the axle nuts again but damn am I gonna have to do this every 300 miles??? Has anybody else had any problem like this? If the axles are torqued to spec what else could it be? Car has 6500 miles on it and mods in sig. thanks for the help!

How loose are we talking here? eg. How much of a turn are you putting on the nut to restore torque?

Around a quarter of a turn the first time. The passenger side was fine. Just the drivers side was backed off a little

Any junk at the mating surface of the axle that wasn't cleaned during installation?

Red loctite. Torque to 150ftlb plus 1/8 turn per BMR.

Just finished up. Everything was tight as a mouse's ear. So I wonder what's making the racket? Just characteristics of the DSS products? Driveshaft + axles= more noise?

The one that is popping I would loosen up, apply red loctite, go a hair past torque spec, call is good.

Mine does the same thing, but I have stock axles. Its something in the d/s. Mine did it for thousands of miles until I put the stock shaft back in for another reason. I wouldn't worry about it.

That's interesting... the d/s vibrates too over 70mph. And on decel. May look at swapping it back to the factory and see if the popping goes away.

You probably just need to clock the driveshaft until the vibrations go away.

Be aware that a loose nut on the halfshaft can cause the bearing to fail prematurely, which then chucks ABS/ESC codes and a heap of other shit. Don't ask me how I know this... :ninja:

It shouldn't be a loose nut. I've tightened the hell out of them and applied loctite. I'll keep checking them periodically
