If you have Sync 3 non nav and want to go with Sync 3 with nav do you need to program the APIM if it comes from Ford?

Alright,

Got my bezel today, only waiting on the Sync 3 Mustang brackets and I will be in business to start the install on my Base to Sync 3 swap...

Possibly? One way to find out.

Either way, it's not hard. I would personally look for a used unit.

Ordering that part would most likely result in an email informing you that your order was cancelled. Ford doesn't actually sell these direct to the customer, they must be ordered through a dealer who then places an order through United Radio in NY (No, United doesn't sell to the public) and unless you have a like for like part you will incur a large core charge. You're better off looking for them at salvage yards.

In my attempts to find various APIMs, I also wound up with an ACM from a 2017 Fusion. Anyone know if this is interchangeable with a Mustang ACM? The brackets are different, as is the CD input guide, but both look to have similar mounting screws as the Mustang, and I'm guessing they will change out. Part number is HS7T-19C107-ZD.

Also, how do you tell if an ACM is HD Radio capable?

Got it. Since the Fusion unit doesn’t have a label anything like those in your pics, I’m assuming it won’t work. I believe it may even be a Panasonic brand rather than the Mustang’s Clarion unit.

Dont think that will work: here is one with SAT.

I dont see any others on ebay that will work. I got extremely lucky to find mine with SAT/HD on there

I'm not necessarily wanting to install the Fusion ACM because I don't really have a need for sat/HD. However, since it came as part of a deal (free), I wondered if it would work with a simple bracket swap. If everything else is equivalent and compatible to the Mustang ACM, I thought I might as well exchange it while I'm in there.

But again, without confirmation that the non-Clarion units will work, it's probably a moot point.

Yea if you dont want SAT/HD then just reuse your existing ACM and sell the Fusion one.
