What to add factory subwoofer to trunk.

You see the cables under the side matting for the sub in place? Was it buried in tape or anything?


I will open mine up and look also - I have a Premium with 9spk so I am happy to be a test case / comparison!

No the connecter is behind the metal bracket like it the link I sent to connecter face I have a connecter coming today that goes from there to the sub

For the money you guys are going to spend on factory parts and that is assuming it even works, (it wont), you can get a JL custom fit sub and amp that will sound 1000 times better.
Once again, look at the posts for upgrading the factory sub.

Did u miss the part we’re I said the 18s are different I have all the wiring needed but a 6 dollar connecter I will have 375 bucks in mine, did u not read the thread or look at the pics I posted a link to the album

Yes it will. I’ve done more research on this subject than I care to admit. First, there is a physical difference between a 9 speaker DSP and a 12 speaker DSP. The 9 speaker doesn’t physically have the traces on the circuit board for the sub signal, the 12 speaker does. Second, if you tell the ACM via FORScan changes to the as built hex that you have the 12 speaker DSP it will work IF the wiring is there. The 18 Premium cars have that wiring. The 15-17s could easily add it. Lastly if you do add it, make sure it’s shielded cable and not just regular eBay 22 gauge.
For the record second hand DSPs can be had for $35-50 and subs from salvage yards or better yet an audiophile buddy are not that expensive, $100-250.
You are correct about it being better, sort of. Sub bass is subjective. How it should sound and how people perceive it should sound are vastly different.

So taking the image of the (40) pin connector that Robert has verified IS in FACT in the trunk of a PREMIUM 2018, does anyone have the actual other part that labels what the wires are that would hit these pins in the connector?

I have also have included the other pics that Robert so kimdfully has supplied for others to review.

Cobra jet I’m hoping the part that goes from the 40 pin to the 9 pin will be in tomorrow as once I know it’s correct I’ll post pics and the part number, I’m gonna be under 400 bucks into it hexs550 says may have to change the acm settings with forescan, I actually pulled the number off my dsp module today I’m pretty certain it does not have the shaker outputs but heck there on eBay for 50-60 bucks

I don’t think anyone is a hater, but going back on the thread I can see the confusion.

The OP “Thekid” who started this post owns a 2015, we (you, me and some others) own 2018’s - and other users chiming in or reading the thread own 2015-2017’s.

So the problem is:

1) Sometimes folks don’t read threads from start to finish, they skip to the most current responses and miss the in between facts

2) What is being proposed and noted DEFINITELY WILL NOT work on any 2015-2017 as noted by some because the 2015-2017 9spkr Premium model is missing the complete harness from front to rear, it’s front amp is different and certain other components are necessary that need to be added or updated...

3) 2018 PREMIUM owners, by adding the wiring harness you have purchased (and pictured) MIGHT allow 2018 PREMIUM owners to add the rear factory sub/amp kit for very minimal cost AND very minimal effort since the front amp and wiring to trunk already appears to exist in a 2018 w/PREMIUM option package.

Awaiting this too see if it works. I would basically need this cable and an OEM shaker sub, then a FORScan tweak and it should be good to go?

I will put my hat in to do a proper A-Z write up for fellow 2018 Premium owners if this works.

Need the dsp module basically the front amp its roughly 50-60 on eBay
But it has to be for shaker if u post the part numbers I can verify

Well chef jpd saying it want work is incorrect I hate negative people if u added the wires on the 15-17 it could work as well

I just want it stock not hacked up, I’m perfectly capable of adding aftermarket but I do not want to
