^Cool? Many cars have helper struts- nothing special. My arthritic hands can't handle the heft of a OE hood too well, that's my story.

I appreciate the advice. like all things there are some bad apples in every brand. it sucks but it is what it is. I'll give these a try for now.. My research showed some say Redline, Roush, Steeda. so then its a question of who do you believe? was it just a defective part? or a bad batch? (happens too much now days) just as it did 20, 30yrs ago. QC has gone out the window IMO.

I'll update this thread once installed & used for a while..

Thanks Again
Scott

When you go to install them, be very, very, VERY careful about not overtorquing the fasteners. If (when?) you break a stud, you'll understand. There's also a whole thread about fixing broken hood studs somewhere around here.

Sounds like a good reason and I'm glad I don't have the problem . . . yet despite my advanced age. :)

The frequent access reason also makes sense when it applies.

I've learned to always have a pair of mechanics gloves handy for opening/closing the hood when it is hot. I guess struts might make gloves unnecessary.

"Cool factor"? I get enough "cool factor" from just driving Mustang GTs. :D Plus I've been a nerd since before the term was even invented. ;)

I had the redline elite on my last GT and they were great and looked nice too.

I installed the Redline kit for the 2018.
However the fender brackets turned/moved as I closed the hood the first time. So the paint where brackets go did get scuffed off :(.

How much is enough for tighten the bolt? I think I will remove the brackets put some touch up paint and attach some thin foam or similar to the brackets so it is not metal on metal. I did do so on the hood brackets though prior to installing.

Thanks!

This trq figure will prevent the brackets to move?

Edit: saw that it is supposed to 13ft*lbs for fender brackets
Use that (156 inch*lbs), but still avoid overtorquing them. Bet they're also M6 fasteners.

How is your hood alignment? I was reading about the 2018 Redline alignment issues.

The Steeda brackets have a rubber backing on the ends.
