I guess shuffle doesn't mean what I thought it means.

I have 5700 songs on a flash drive set to shuffle but still I hear the same 12 or so way more than any others. There is nothing random about it.

Not likely. Not the ones that play the most.

It might depend on your file structure. I had a unit do the same thing and turned out it ignored any songs over the 99/folder limit. I ended up just creating more folders and limited each to 99 songs. For the short time my 'stang was on the road I used a 32GB flash drive with 3500 songs and never heard a repeat (GT Premium)

Could be. I have certain artists with over a hundred songs each. When I play just them it is random.

Also, I no longer do the massive folders. My file structure is Artist/Album/Songs, so never more than an albums worth of songs in each folder.

I dragged and dropped all my songs from iTunes so I have NO folders on my USB drive.

I have the same structure and I get maybe 6 random songs and then it continues playing whatever album the 6th song is from???
