Depends on spec / price / trade in value.

I think Iā€™ll be murdered on trade in this time :(

I have a feeling in my bones that the Bullitt may come ( looking at some of the Euro / UK posts ).

But that 10R80 Auto Option looks awesome !!

I've been considering the 18 10-speed
25,000mi on my 15 GT Premium bought for $33k, owe $17k. Can I get $26k for it with all my mods? I think so
That means I'd have $10k to put down on the 18 gt premium with active exhaust, 3.55 and 10 speed
Hmmm

Melbourne dealers have brand new GTs under $55k driveaway.
Some arm twisting and hard kick in the guts should see this fall to around $50 to $52 k.

Mustangs currently come with five year Ford factory warranty and first 3 years servicing free.

Compare that to a 3 year old used GT with minimal warranty, Sync 2 plus Government charges - wouldn't expect top dollar at trade time.

Ford have a lot to 'answer for' for this brands image going forward

Free 3yr service and 5yr warranty finishes end of Feb so apparently need to be ordered and delivered by end of it. I'd expect they'll keep it going though till they can offload last of their stock?

Everyone knew their cars would depreciate.
Main reason I haven't bought new since 1976.

Normal depreciation is fine. But what Ford have done in such a short time is ridicules. Mustang is going from hero to zero in just to years. Only hope for MY16/17 owners is that MY18 will have a higher RRP and then Ford doesn't go discount mad again. Not holding my breath though. Gee, you wonder what a converted MY13/14 GT S197 is worth now. People paid $100k+ for those.

Reckon s550 following normal depreciation curve. Think it's 45% over first three years generally.
Early adopters probably hardest hit paying overs or full retail. Once the novelty wore off and untapped market was sated, they're as valuable as a Hyundai. Probably less so cos our cars have limited appeal and practicality.
Ford under no obligation to protect "owners values".
Ford's only concern to chase sales.

I know a guy who had a 2014 which owed him around $110K. He sold it a couple of years ago and could only get around $40K for it.

Redbook has the trade in value of a 2016 manual GT as $38,600 to $42,00.

My experience is that dealers will offer below this (say $35,000 in this case) and let you beat them up to get near the $38k.

I've also found Redbook to be fairly accurate as its based on industry data, but watch the value drop when the new model hits. But we all know it all about the changeover cost. Heck they may even offer you $50k trade in on your new 2018 $85k Mustang GT ;-)

this is my thinking.. if you paid rrp for 15-17 = 60k auto.

say u need to top up $15k for to get an 18.

why not spent that $15k on FI .. you gain so much more.. and spent money on legit gains rather than just "new"

that 10 speed is a "good" upgrade.. if your on the drag strip... that 200rwkw.. gonna be "great" every single application. strip, circuit, roll, drift. xD

the gains is because your on the "powerband" all the time WOT.. the shift time is not that great tbh.. its still an auto not pdk/dct.. i guess if you go from cruising to pedal to the metal.. you might be 0.2 second faster.. but how necessary is that compared to again.. 200rwkw..

maybe sensible owners dont buy a mustang ?

2018 is 5%-10% increase for 20% more money.. according to my my finance degree its a lose lose battle :(
