I have owned 10 or so Windsor based 5.0L cars in my life. This is the first Coyote motor I have ever owned. WOW...this motor reaches the REV limiter very fast!! I am so used to the old-school 5.0L that felt like re-entry of the space shuttle at high RPM's so you knew it was time to either shift, or rebuild! I have wound out 1st and 2nd gear to the REV limiter about 5 damn times already. I feel like I need to learn to drive a Mustang all over again.

Totally my fault. I'll get the hang of it, then drive a fox-body Stang and grenade the crank probably.:frusty:

Get it tuned and add the gt350 intake and really let it sing another 1,000 rpm!

I hear you, I remember the old Winsor 302 I had in a Maverick. At maybe 5000 rpm the show was over. I'm sure my Honda Accord could outrun that old car.

I haven't owned any previous mustangs, but I was also surprised how much this V8 likes to rev. I was expecting it to be lazier but my tach was lighting up red before I knew it!

I just got my car and have been trying to be relatively easy on it for the first 1k miles. By easy I mean hard but only up to 5k RPM and no burn outs. =) Anyways the other night I was taking off kind of hard and she flashed red at me. She red lined in first so fast I missed the 5k mark. I agree, it gets up quick.

Be glad you have a light!

One thing I do like on the Camaro is the heads-up display that has a tach which glows bright red at high RPM. My friend has one and let me drive it. Very easy to see and keep your eyes on the road at the same time.

Lund turned up my rev limiter to 7,300 but the factory red tach still lights up at night at 6,700:) Of course only matters at night, and if on the paddles.

The way these cars rev is probably my favorite thing about them. Right now I have it set at 7100 (stock manifold) but I usually shift around 6800. Just the sound alone is intoxicating.

Factory rev limiter is pretty low imo.
Mine stops at exact 6500rpm where there is more to go.

Hmmmm been driving a stick for some 40 yrs; probably bounced off a rev limiter maybe 6-10 times. Not sure bouncing off the rev limiter is a bragging point guys.

IMHO... I felt the revs were slow until I installed a pedal commander...once I added that little magic box, it now revs a lot quicker like I am use to.. ( Had a Rotary engine in my RX7...now that motor reved super fast. )

Sorry, it can't rev quicker unless you are accelerating faster. The only thing that little box is doing is make you use more accelerator by decreasing modulation.
