Just been doing some research and have seen quite a few November build date 18's having engine issues.... My question is does anyone have a bit more information on this? I am looking at a GT on a local lot that has a October 16th build date.

guttedsrt was tracking build dates I believe.

My build date was 11/16/17 at Flatrock Assembly Plant.

Here are my issues so far:
1. Misaligned body panel. Passenger front fender not aligned with door. Fixed by dealer.

2. Ford is replacing short block due to excessive piston slap. Filed complaint with NHTSA.

My engine was built 21/Nov. Other than the oil pan gasket leak the dealer had to fix, it's fine so far at 1500 miles.

Well I just got that GT yesterday. Oct 10 build date on the engine. So far no signs of rattle just a subtle belt noise at certain RPMs (might be the noise others are talking about with the 10 speed) Spent a good 20 min listening to the engine at idle and at other problem RPMs others have identified. We shall see how things develop.

That is great to hear! My new short block will be installed next week so I hope that the new one is fine. I really love the car and don't really want to lemon law it. Shopping for a boroscope before I do any mods.

The volume of Nov cars with issues is high. Two mentions today of newer engines, March and Feb :(

I am wondering if it is a problem with one of the suppliers of materials for the engine assembly. Casting issues or something along those lines.

I haven't checked my build date but mine is also mis-aligned and i have to slam it just right to shut the trunk. I also have a paint defect on the driver door as it looks as if they painted over some debris on the door on the lower panel, then the kick panel behind it also has a little wrinkle.. there's also dent on the same side on the panel between my driver window and the roof, I'm guessing it all happened at the plant since its the same side and directly about the defect. and I noticed a slight squeak but that sounds like a belt? at any rate I'm scheduled this Friday for service so will attack it then and wait to tune till i know I'm good to go lol .

I think the same blocks are used but the spray bore layer is thinner than the metal liner (which increases displacement) so it may be something in the application of the spray bore. But could be also be bad batch of castings.

The easiest way (other than door sticker month/year) is to go to www.etis.ford.com and register (free). You will then be able to enter a VIN and get the exact build date. Note that the format will be DD.MM.YYYY. I attached my info as an example. You will also see the Assembly Plant as well.

You can also use this site to lookup other Ford VIN's.

On the window sticker, the closest date would be above "BLEND" at the top which I think is the production start date. 1 YYYYMMDD

Well might have discovered my first minor issue. Right rear tire seems to have a slow leak. Dropped 10 psi overnight. Does not appear to have any damage so I am thinking it might be the seal between the rim and the tire. Will have to monitor the situation and see what happens.
