Update: my car was back at the dealership for same concern for 3 days. They can replicate the noise but still no solution. The video posted here sounds very much like the problem I'm having and when the sound occurs, it cuts power. On a side note, spark plugs were recommended to me as well. I'm currently on my 3rd set (14K miles on car) and hasn't effected the noise or acceleration at all.

This is the exact sound I hear from mine. My car is a Cleveland built engine but the car is a 2015. Wondering if this is the problem on mine?
That sounds suspiciously like the fast clacking sound I heard as well.
So what's the solution to fix this? Odd that I've only had it happen once so far. If something was loose, I would think it would do it more often.

I vote this myth is busted!! Thanks drewfis

I seem to hear that clicking sound when on cold start. Goes away when oil temp gauge is almost 12 o'clock

What about the hesitation and smoke aspects?

I imagine if it's engine timing related, maybe the engine is dumping fuel into the cylinder under high boost and then the timing changes rapidly so it alters power.

Hey, TorqueMan...

Is the butterfly plate held onto the TB shaft with a pair of tiny screws like in the olden days?

Hmmm. I wonder what would happen if both of those screws were backed out just a hair?

Clicking? Check! (but admittedly not likely audible from inside the cabin)
Performance impact? Check!
Intermittent problem? Check!
Self-resolving? Maybe, but admittedly iffy.

Intriguing idea? CHECK! :D

Maybe. But I would think the movement from a loose plate would change airflow, which would result in a noticeable change in power--more like surging than a hesitation. I guess it could be mistaken for hesitation.

Either way, this would be easily diagnosed.

I just had this happen the other day getting on the freeway at the top of first gear. Not sure if there was any black smoke because it freaked me out and didn't look in the rear view. Never happened before, car has 23K miles, 91 Oct. Tune+, Sport mufflers - nothing crazy. Engine was fully warmed up, 1/4 tank of gas remaining and a hot day (95 deg)

Thought for sure I blew something... In my minds eye I could just see valves slapping the pistons. Drove home without an issue, listened with hood open and didn't heard any odd noises. Car seems fine and I've gotten on it a few times since and it hasn't repeated. I didn't have the access port connected at the time, but I'm sure it would have shown knock. I did go back to the Cobb OTS 91 Oct. tune the next day just for...because.

Mine was more than 4-6 clicks, it was more of a rapid fire loud metallic clacking sound that last a second or 2 till I let off the throttle.
Exactly the same issue here in Belgium with the COBB-AP.
I flashing the Cobb 91-stage1-OTS instead of 93 decreased the sound a little.
When driving stock, there is no rattling sound at all on full throttle.
(I have NGK LTR7IX-11 6510 IRIDIUM IX SPARK PLUGS since day 1).
Did anyone try the stock spark-plugs to solve this?
I am running out of options....

Rattling is different from clicking. Rattling under full throttle is more indicative of preignition (knock). If you are getting knock while running a tune I would suggest getting that sorted ASAP, and I would NOT run that tune until you do. Knock is your engine talking to you—listen!
