I have a 2018 GT that I plan to reach 450rwhp with in the short term and maybe 600rwhp years later. Next week I will be installing TCA048, CB005, and Micky Thompson 19" drag radials. I believe it will be wise to upgrad the half shafts before I take this set up to the drag strip.

My research has found the following offerings:

GT350 - Are these a mild upgrade to the stock ones?
FMS - These are pricey at $1,700. Do I need them?
G-Force - I am considering the 850 as I believe they will support the power I plan to make.
DSS - I read about some nut backing out on them. This still an issue?

What do you guys recommend? Thank you for any input.

Jerome

The gforce 850hp ones would be good for you. I’m running the ford racing 1500hp which are made by gforce.

Thank you guys for you input.

I see I should have asked why you suggest the ones you did.

Thanks,
Jerome

I had the DSS 800hp axles in my 15, manual GT. I had NA power, with over 70 quarter mile passes and 5000 miles of normal driving. Never had an issue with them. They slide into the center section without a problem. 2.5yrs later, they slide right back out. No damage to splines or anything. There WAS issues with some hardware backing out on early releases. I marked mine with a paint pen and they never moved the whole time I owned them.

Gforce 850 or ford racing shafts if you have extra money.
What is the difference between the G-Force 850's and the For racing ones? Why are the Ford racing ones more exepensive?

Thanks,
Jerome

The issue with DSS was with the early units not having Loctite or not being torqued high enough I forget. But that issue has been rectified since. Gforce and DSS are both great products. I can help you obtain both. Let me know if I can help.

Both made by Gforce, but the ford racing ones are rated at 1500hp thus more cost.

Thank you for this info. No need for 1500hp half shafts so this makes my decision easier now, G-Force 850.

You have an auto. You probably won't break your half shafts at all, even at 650.

Not true . They are breaking even at stock power levels .Apparently the A10 in drag mode shifts are that violent .

I have the DSS 800' s on 1100 rwhp /auto/Hellion car and they held up ,although my 1.4 xx 60's have likely not really tested them ( I have the "stronger" but heavier 1400 Ford racing ones on my Manual KB car).

I just ordered the same for my 18/A10 that wil be getting a whipple. Got them less than $1000 with recent Lethal sale .The A10 shifts in drag mode may be more "violent" than a tuned 6r80 so hope they hold up .
