I believe you have to get 301a to get drive modes.
Exactly!

No drag mode for base 300A even if you have the PP1.

You need 301A and above.

I do not care for leather seats and you really do not need drag mode because after market tuners will have a better solution for auto trans in their after market tunes very soon.

I guess the After Market Tuners will take of this!
This was kind of my thought as well. I am sure there are some little tricks the drag mode pulls off, but what would be the difference between the switchable modes and a tuner?

Besides the obvious that you can turn it on or off with the toggle of a switch with drag mode.

I do not car for leather seats! LOL.

I do not like leather seat in a Mustang myself.
It's one of the reason I got the 300A on my 2015

301A and 101A ecoboost have cloth seats.
This time for my 2018 I got the 301A package and I think is a good deal for cloth seat lovers!. Got pretty much what a premium have except a couple gimmick .

The only thing I didn't like on my 2015 GT base 300A was the radio not really because of the way it look but really because it did not sound very well for my taste.

With the 301A you get the 9 speakers and a better sound system + nice big screen android auto and you have the drive modes!

Sooooo......what is "drag mode"? I mean, in reality, not a Ford brochure.

I was under the impression it's something on the PP/Magneride cars. The rear shocks go soft and allow for rear-end squat to get the power down.

In the eSourcebook that likeaboss posted it's mentioned in the Drive Modes section and the A10 section.

Selectable Drive Modes

Drag – Provides a performance driving experience tailored to driving on a drag strip. The engine responds directly to your inputs, and if your vehicle is equipped with active valve performance exhaust, it takes on a more powerful tone. This mode is not intended for public roads. If your vehicle is equipped with adaptive dampers, the setting is optimized for straight line maximum acceleration. Selectable steering defaults to Sport but can be changed using the steering button

10-speed Automatic Transmission with SelectShift Capability

Drag mode
‒ Designed to produce maximum acceleration
‒ Shifts closer to redline, removes inertia phase in shifting and increases clutch pressure for extra “push"
‒ Not intended for cold, wet or slippery conditions; see owner's manual for more information
‒ Track use only
So yes, it benefits from Magnaride but it has other functions as well.
