I just found out it's a December 23rd car...

1) rear window leaked from factory
2) rear camera doesn't work in freezing weather
3) Valve cover gasket leaked
4) evap core went out before 46,000 miles
5) ... we'll see.

Can't really tell my exact build date: I ordered my car.

According to Deysha: the scheduled build date was 03/02/2016. That meshes with the blend date on the window sticker.

When I was PM'ing with FordService (not always answered by Deysha) to find out when my car shipped, according to them it was completed on 03/01/2016.

Finally, when I look over my service advisers shoulder as he does stuff on my car, it shows a build date of 02/29/2016 (which, if I could verify it, would be really cool...a leap day car! ).

At least I know what week it was built

Are December build dates not good?
Day before holiday break isn't usually great. Mine was Sept 10th of '14 during the ramp up to J1. Almost perfect, as it had tons of eyes on it.

While not exactly what the OP meant, I can tell a story that I bought my Explorer back when they first came out in 1990. A co-worker really like it, but said he would wait 6 months before buying one, giving time for Ford to work out the kinks. Well, yep, 6 months later he bought one, but when I checked his build date (build week?), it was only one week after mine. So, what he bought, was an Explorer that had been sitting on the dealer's lot for 6 months. :D

So, I would agree with checking the build date, but for different reasons.

My 2015 and my 2018 were both built the Thursday before the Christmas break. No problems in 31K with the 15 and none so far with the 18. Keep in mind that none of the parts are manufactured on the build date.

Meh.....such things happen.

Everything but the rear window seem not related to when it was built.
