What's more important and better for performance?

For comparison:

Hellcat: 4,450lbs - 707hp = 6.29lbs/hp
ZL1: 3,900lbs - 650hp = 6lbs/hp
Demon: 4,250lbs - 808hp = 5.26lbs/hp
Z06: 3,524lbs - 650hp = 5.42lbs/hp

Of course having less weight and more power would be the ideal goal, but using a middleground figure of 5.6lbs/hp, and the ZL1's starting power and ending with the Demon's power, what would make for the best performing car?

Performance isn’t about all about power.

The lightest car will brake the best, turn the best, and make transitions easier.

It’ll also get the best mpg and produce the least emissions.

Lower the weight, the better performing in respect to the same power ratio. In this case, 650hp would be the best.

It’s how the power is made. Power doesn’t equal a major increase in weight. Support and balance additions do, such as suspension upgrades and braking equip.

But the 500 is in a different. League and will be at a price point that justifies some extra lightweighting.

It doesn’t have to weigh much more than a 350R.

Pretty simple IMO best option is the lightest car.

Its far easier to make more HP than it is to shave weight.

Adding a 100hp or more to any of them doesnt really cost much for added weight if any.

And what about how the weight is balanced?...... Ford..... take your damn time and make sure that this car is perfect. I agree horsepower isn't everything, however there is also more to this than a simple horsepower to weight ratio (drive train components, wheels, tires, etc).

I'm going to be the odd man out here for sure, but I'm willing to pay a premium for something that will be the best the market has to offer (in terms of MSRP). Making a car very light is very expensive and I hope they offer an R or lightened and balanced version that is dialed in for track use.

The S550 is not a light platform. I doubt you’ll see anything anymore exotic on the 500 than was already on the 350.

Who is voting for the heavier cars  every single option on the poll is 5.6 hp/pound.

So lightest car wins. Its easier to add more hp than it is to remove weight.

If that’s true. As I said before I’m really disappointed. A 14 was 5.8. Call it the same. And if power is around 720ish, this car is portly. Where the hell is over 400 pounds coming from over a GT350? Not a supercharger. Which makes your comments and BmacIL a bit contradictory. You’re numbers imply Ford did nothing to cut weight on this car.

Anyway, not trying to be argumentative. Just trying to cut through the “I know more but can’t tell you guys and gals” from everyone that knows more.

Thank you. Most people just want a big number. A lot of people are short sighted when it comes to this stuff. Ford is trying to attract a different buyer now. One that wants a balanced car. There’s a reason why the GT350 is so wildly popular. And it’s far from the biggest horsepower number. Same with GT3, etc...

A lot of people just care about bragging rights and tire smoke. They aren't going to the track anyway. They just want to be able to spin the tires on the way out of cars and coffee.

I'm just going to see what it is when it is really revealed and go from there. If it winds up being a turd, then oh well.... Pass.

I don't think Ford would go to all this trouble and drop a dookie on us, so I will patiently wait.

I’m not saying that what BmacIL said is wrong, but as he have said before the numbers may have changed in he last months because of a lot of reasons.
