Wondering what rear gears do you guys have and what gear rpm do you guys finish at the end of the 1/4 mile. Also what trap speed. Thanks

3.73, which is a huge handful. They’re awful on the track because you have to get into 5th.

With the stock clutch and the stock 235 tires I would hit the upper rev limiter in 4th through the traps 135mph, tach said 8k-8100rpm. Put a Stage2+ Hybrid Spec clutch in it and same tires/power it would go through at 135mph 7600-7700rpm. Stock clutch had a hard time keeping up at that rpm. This is with 3.31's. With the 28" hoosiers and almost 139mph it goes through 7500rpm'ish.

I'd figure out where you want to be RPM wise and trap speed wise in the 1/4 and gear accordingly.

I want to trap around 7500 RPM with a 28" tire in 4th.

Depending on your power level that would be 3.55's, 3.31's, or 3.15's.

I went with 3.15's but mostly because I do a lot of roll racing. They aren't ideal for 1/4 unless there is a lot of power there as the trap speed at 7500 is 150.

I could have the same trap potential with 3.31's if I let the car rev to my hard limit at 7850 in the 1/4, but I would loose some of my roll advantage. This gear would be my optimum gear if I wanted to do purely dig racing.

Mild SC build would be fine with 3.55's.

3.31 after swapping from 3.73. Cross the traps at the top of 4th at 142 with MPSS 315/35/20s - 28.7" tall.

That’s what I currently have and have to go into 5th. Seeing if 355 or 331 would work better for me
Pretty simple really.

Take what your trap speed is right now and then plug the info into a gearing calculator with 3.55 or 3.31 gears and see if your MPH can be achieved while staying in 4th gear.

I hit 138mph shifting to 5th with 3.73s and no launch. I don't drag enough to care about the shift.

After watching Yolo’s latest video.....I’m intrigued to try an ‘18 MT-82 and stock twin disc and keep the 3.73 out back. Similar gearing to a Magnum T-56 with instant bolt-on ability and I can keep my MGW.

The MT82 cars are awesome to drive...

But, kinda like in the Corvette / Camaro world, everyone talks about the A8 and A10 in them at the drag strip. I am willing to bet the Mustang follows that.

But man, the manual trans is better than ever in these bad boys.

How much stronger is the MT82 when combined with an aftermarket twin disc and 800whp is the question.

I enjoy going to the drag strip just as much as the next guy/gal, but I don’t go there every day. Way more smiles per mile for me with a stick.
