Example the 10 speed zl1 fi car is a better fi car because of the 10 speed auto. The mustang will be also. Why wouldn’t you want a trans that keeps you in your power band at all times. The 6r80 doesn’t do this. Plain and simple you will go faster with it n/a or f/i!

here's what we know about parts integration from the 18 to the 15-17 and vice versa:

The 10r80 transmission will fit just have to figure out how to make it work electronically.
The Rear tail lights also fit perfectly no adjustments, but costs $1k for the pair.
The Digital Dash also works but some bugs need to be worked out.
a Host of 15-17 aftermarket parts also work on the 18's..
I really don't care about the cluster unless I decide to buy an 18 but I'm holding it because I'm more interested in swapping the 10-speed with the normal cluster. Gonna be so much not a pain in the a55 if you don't add the Delphi Cluster.

Modern transmissions have the control unit integrated into the transmission housing. There is no separate control unit to purchase... You will likely need the PCM and that’s it.

2018 PCMs seem to use different connectors though so either a new under hood harness will be required (which could lead to more different connectors) or potential for an adapter to be made to convert 2017 harnesses to 2018 PCM. A new engine harness will be mandatory.

What’s also interesting, the 2018s now have exhaust gas temperature sensors? I’m guessing for emissions reasons.
Will PM you w questions after I get my inbox cleared.
EGT sensors are very big deal if on 5.0 . That is huge. That increases capability to tune dynamically to the ragged edge.

Hey @Dominant1 ! How do you know the new speedo works? Do you know someone who tried it? I'm looking for one actually. I'm whiling to work on the bugs that need to be fixed. I have some knowledge with reverse engineering electronics/firmware&software. Keep me posted!

Does anyone know if the A10 physically larger (length from bell to tail) then the 6R80 - and if so, then the driveshafts would also be different, correct?

According to the op the physical specs of the 10r80 are identical. It’s the wiring that’s different, and the tuning is different!

Whipple SC confirmed the 15-17 pcm will be unable to run the 10r80. The 18 pcm has tripled in size, tables, etc. to accommodate the 10r80.

Am I correct in the fact that the 18 PCM uses different connectors for the vehicle side?

Beefcake already put a 2015/2017 1 piece driveshaft in their A10 2018. So im positive the are the same length.

Run 18 pcm on older engine.

I still highly doubt this swap wont work.

I still believe someone will figure it out.
That is my opinion on how to make this work as well. The issue is in the fact that it appears as though the 18 PCM uses a different connector for the vehicle side of the wiring. So that would then also require the underhood harness to be swapped out which could then lead to more different connectors...
