and some people will blame the curb for denting their rims when they hit it sliding sideways.

In other words you have to look at why/how it broke and not the "it broke cause it a POS" part

Agreed. It happens too often. I will say perilli tires are garbage and the trans isn't my favorite lol. My car is in the body shop because I fucked up lol. No one else. At least I'll get the rock chips fixed and a cowl hood lol.

This thread gives me hope. Stock for now but intend to put down about 700 in stock clutch.

23,000 miles.
Stock

Car has seen about 4 months of nitrous use (~650hp/700tq), a full season of road course driving (not a beginner), a few trips to the drag strip on Hoosiers with 6000rpm launches (NA), and now for the past few thousand miles 850/622 with quite a bit of street pulls from 40/60.

My transmission has shifted just fine from day one. I have never gotten locked out unless it was just my mistake. No grinding, ho humming, just nice and easy driving. I will say that I do not powershift the car without a WOTbox (now installed). I don't do needless burnouts from a dig (but it does them from a roll:D).

I am only replacing the stock clutch because I plan on asking more from the car than I feel the stock clutch can deal with and I don't like cleaning up broken parts.

I don't think the MT82 is alone in being trashed as a "bad" transmission. When it comes to manual transmissions, this has been going on since I cut my teeth on Muncie and Saginaw (no Toploaders - this Mustang is my first Ford I didn't buy to turn around and sell) 4 speeds. I know plenty of people who believe Muncie 4 speeds were some kind of 'Super' transmission - no thanks - I spent too much of my youth replacing parts.

I think a lot of this discussion involves how an individual drives. No one wants to openly admit they might be the reason their transmission is breaking / messing up. One thing I've learned over the years is that different manual transmissions "like" being shifted certain ways at certain times, the MT82 seems no different to me in that regard.

Agreed. Driver mod and just generally knowing what you are doing are key ingredients to keeping anything alive in a car. Also component selection plays a role. I wouldn't dare try to beat on a stick car with a hard biting clutch and a drag radial from a dig. That's just asking for problems. They make bias ply tires for a reason..

Whipple since day 1-dealer installed
Stock clutch started slipping above 6,000rpm after approximately 6k miles
Car now has close to 1k miles on a Mach 600 clutch (odo at 7,400 miles)
Stock MT-82 with MGW and BG fluid
Never seen a dig or track-waiting on axles and tires before attempting
Stock Pzero's and G-max AS05s for the cold
