I guess that will be the big question on both. I put a deposit down last week to be in line for the ME Corvette. Kinda crazy to have money down on a car that you have no idea what it will look like much less cost. However, after seeing the last spy shots and considering they were bench marking a TurboS. I'm fairly confident its going to be a killer car. Assuming/hoping they don't totally lose their minds with price!
I'm feeling the same way. I can't wait to see this car. I think its going to come in around 115-125K and be easily optioned up from there. If it's well over 150K then its in 911 turbo territory and it'd loose sales. It'll probably turn out to not be much more then the GT500. Unfortunately Ford hasn't been able to do much about ADM and if it is lower production and its as amazing as were hearing it'll probably be 100K+ with ADM.

If this car can truly compete in performance with a TurboS and comes in under 15oK its going to be a bad ass ride. I know styling is subjective but I'm betting it is going to really stand out being ME. The one thing that would hold me back on the GT500 is if it really doesn't look much different than your everyday Stang. I know Ford is going to bring the performance but in the end its still going to look very much like a Mustang. I agree with those hear that would love a FRESH new design. I mean they killed it with the styling on the GT. But at that ridiculous price who can afford it! I love the idea of a modern Cobra/Pantera that would really get the juices and dollar bills flowin!

If the mid engine is in the same price range as the z06, it will probably be made in the same quantities. GM fills demand, and then some. It's why they sell 10 K+ under msrp. Im waiting for the mid engine kinks to be worked out. Im not buying one for at least 6 to 8 months after the first person takes delivery. GT500 will ease the wait a little. I know the gt500 is gonna be one quick mother.
The mid engine, im hoping it comes in at 3100 LBS MAX and has at least 650 HP.

Unfortunately the ME will be 3400-3500lbs.

The power plant is going to be pretty heavy, and it’s not going to have a carbon monocoque.

Hopefully your number is off by at least 200 lbs or it cranked out 700 hp.

Not saying your wrong but will ask how you "know" this? Since there's almost zero info on this car. Even guys in the know on the corvette forum haven't said much.

Mclaren 570S, and our beloved ford GT.

Not much else to say. Also the 4.2 TT (speculative) will be heavy.

Take the Audi R8 RWS as a bench mark. Aluminum unibody, non hybrid, rwd.

If GM creates a 3100lbs ME car, they’ll need to charge 300k.

I do agree it'll weigh probably 3350-3500 lbs, I just find it odd when people write things as they know. The last doc leak is the LT5 is going to be 6.2L but there is a rumor GM is working on a 4.0TT, it'll probably will be heavy but they sure do know how to make 700+ hp.

It’s actually been confirmed, at least according to these guys, for over a year.

https://www.autoevolution.com/news/...debuts-lt5-42-liter-twin-turbo-v8-110457.html

The LT5 is the 4.2TT. It should be going into the ME car.

Twin turbo 8’s are heavy powerplants.

Couple more numbers for you:

Huracan LP 580: 3350lbs.
Audi R8 RWS: 3500lbs.

I will shit if the corvette is lighter than 3400.

EDIT: I should have kept reading, they said the LT5 will be the 6.2.

I still feel the ME car will have the 4.2 and the ZR1 the 6.2.

Hopefully it's not above 3400 lbs then. 300lbs is a lot but i could live with it as long as it feels light and is nimble.

6.2 DOHC sounds very enticing. If its for the zr1, i wonder if it will be supercharged. Turbos on a 6.2 would be crazy.

The lt5 that was leaked was NA 6.2. Remember those above coupes are V10 engines and and those engine are very heavy. 3400 is a good goal for them.

What if I told you an Audi V10 is only 20-25lbs heavier than a Gen V LT1??

http://www.vaglinks.com/vaglinks_com/docs/ssp/VWUSA.COM_SSP_923603_5.2lL_V10_FSI_Engine.pdf

Regardless, good dialogue, but the ME will be heavy.

A big shout out to amg however, they managed a 460lb dry weight for their 4L TT. BMW’s 4.4TT is about 505.

The voodoo is quite a bit lighter than all of those :ford:

Based on Europeans always listing dry weight I bet that quoted weight is dry. Either way I’m not supper concerned about engine weight since now that weight is over those rear tires were they want it not on the front end.

Engine weights are usually dry, European, American or Japanese. It’s essentially shipping weight.

My point was to illustrate the new Vette is going to be heavy based on all the information I gathered.

The weight being toward the rear will help a lot agreed.

Still, a 650 to 700 HP 3500 lb mid engine will be fun. I'm eager to see it.

If there is any truth to having electric motors driving front wheels we should probablu add another couple hundy. One thing is for sure, it will be a blast on the street 0 to 60 in under 3 seconds? ;)
