I wanted to see if I could make a DIY shift light similar to the one found on the 2017 gt350s for my 2015 mustang v6, so I started off by hacking and playing with the CAN bus accessed through the OBDII port.
I used a micro-controller and a CAN transceiver and was able to find the CAN ID that contained the rpm data and lit the on-board LED as a shift-light.
Hopefully once I get my hands on an LED array, it'll work like the shift light on the gt350! :headbang:

I always thought it'd be sweet to tie a shift light into the heads-up LED array that those of us with ACC already have installed. Wonder how hard that'd be to tie into? Is that the same as on the GT350? I wasn't sure where they have their shift light

This is awesome! I wonder what the price would be for a finalized product, and whether or not it will be plug and play.

Great job!

can you give the brand of the can transceiver you used? Can you share any of the arduino code? that is, if you aren't planning on selling it. I use arduino's pretty extensively, and am super interested in your progress. Great job dude!

Here are the parts I used:
(1) SN65HVD233-HT3.3-VCANTransceiver
(2) Texas Instruments Tiva C Series TM4C123G LaunchPad
(3) USB cable

Yea! that's what I'm currently working on right now, I just got my rgb led strips, gotta write some code and hopefully it'll turn out like the shift lights stock on the GT350.
