So curiosity got to me today...decided to try out the stock line lock feature in my 2017 GT...didn't roast the tires too long at all...just a quick chirp...BUT...what's with the smell? Also when starting in first there is a slight wheel hop feeling now?

Burnt rubber? What kind of tires do you have?

Stock tires....smelled more like brakes??? and the slip/wheel hop feel upon starting from a dead stop in first now is troubling

probably clutch was the burnt smell. slipping it. Let it out fairly agressively to save the clutch, and will also help reduce the wheel hop to just go ahead and get them going.

Do you get wheel hop on *every* start, or only during hard launches or using line lock?

Oh man I know exactly what that smell is. It wasn't the tires. My clutch hasn't been the same since. Takes a little more in first and higher rpms I don't accelerate very well. Black Friday RST clutch for me

^ yea and pick a smooth road not a prepped for pavement that resembles 100 grit sandpaper. I blame my brother with his " Do it pus" comment.

Did you burn your clutch? You are supposed to rev up and dump the clutch.
And that feel you are getting is called clutch shudder. Basically you heated up the clutch so much that it made the fly wheel overheat and created hot spots on them. These hot spots are hard and slippery so as your clutch slide over them, it slips causing this skidding feel.
