Hi,

I recently got a survey on car options. I was thinking it might be an indicator about the type of options available for the Mustang. We have a 2013 Mustang and wonder if we got the e-mail because of that. Anyway, here are screenshots I took.

Do these items and prices look to be in-line with what the Mustang might have?

Wow, I think you're bang on the money. If that's not referring to S550 I'll be surprised.

Be interesting to see if those specs hold true for production

I4 - 310bhp
V6 - 300 (decrease of 5?)
V8 - 430 bhp (increase of 10?)

Wonder what they mean by 10R automatic transmission? 10 ratio?

They refer to the other as 6 speed automatic transmission, so why the different description?

Also.....7 speed manual as well as a 6 speed? Hmmm.

I really wish they would sell cars like computers. List all possible options, pay for what you want. Stop this confusing package/trim level nonsense. Dealers can still sell pre-built vehicles and facilitate the order/fulfillment.

I know it is a pipe dream, but I still would love to see the industry get there someday.

I wondered if those engine values were set for each person, or if the specs would change for every person taking the survey to get an idea on how the numbers would play into people's decisions.

Those racing seats are expensive. I could have sat and played around with the different options all day. I like Sirius radio but their customer service is so bad I avoid them at all costs.

There were several questions about LED headlights too.

$25 for puddle projector lamps? We had to replace a lamp on our Mustang, over $100 of warranty cost. Not cheap to replace.

I don't know the difference between slip differentials or why it matters. I need to look that up. Controlling the car with your cell phone is interesting, but I don't know how often I'd really use it. Rain sensing washers? HUD? Tri-color paint? Interesting options they are asking about. It is fun to prioritize what I'd really want.

That looks very plausible in terms of what the next-generation Mustang will offer. I love how they changed the engine displacement sizes +/- 0.1 liters to throw people off, haha.

Twin Turbo, yes, Ford and GM are currently collaborating on 10-speed transmissions for their respective RWD applications (and 9-speed transmissions for both companies' front wheel drive vehicles).

If the specs for the V6 and the turbo 4 are fairly accurate, it'll be interesting to see which is the more popular choice. We're talking about slightly more HP and torque (~3%) and a bit better fuel economy (~10%) for $560.

On paper, I'd probably take the V6 as fuel economy isn't really a priority for me. On the other hand, I guess I'd have to drive them both to really choose.

I actually learned to drive on a 4-cylinder Mustang, so I don't necessarily have an aversion to the idea.

Actually cars were sold like that at one time--I guess if it was a good business model they would still be doing it.

Between the 4, 6, and 8 cylinder versions the list shows only a 4 mpg difference.

Interesting, the only way I see the V6 decreasing power is if some significant weight is shed. And even then I don't get why they would do that...

Also, it says 29mpg for the V6. Doesn't it do better than that now?

If this is truly S550, I bet they are understating the numbers in the questions. There are some powerful V6s out there and Ford is going to keep up.

None the less, there are some pretty sweet options listed there!
