Have had my car 5 months and it has been sitting most of the winter. Never noticed an issue with the rear bumper gap because I wasn't looking. Sure enough I've got a gap big enough I too can the the fastener clips. This I discovered only after I returned from Ford to get the trunk rub fixed. Now I have to go back and probably get the car back with more scratches on the spoiler and black trunk panel.
Yep, that black shinny plastic is hard to keep new looking.... I applied 3 layers of cquartz and it seems to have helped. I also applied a small band of xpel I had left over on the bottom area where you usually grab it to close the trunk... seems to have helped.

My bumper does not seem to have any major scratches from the repair. I think I see some marks on the stripes (very easy to scratch, as they are shinny vinyl), can't help on that. I am hoping it will never have to go to the dealer again. If spoiler sags again, I'll do it myself.

Come loose on it's own or from washing?
I went to open the trunk Friday to clean it, and I saw the edge popped up... spontaneous failure.

I’m disappointed with Ford’s quality on this flagship car.

Maybe, just maybe ;), since Ford is eliminating all but two cars from their production lines, they can address this common issue and fix it appropriately. The same thing happened with my 14 Fusion Hybrid.

My $0.02...

My car has seen 140+ mph (proper place) multiple times. It has seen 100+ mph a lot. That being said, the downforce generated by the aero no doubt affects the function of this simple clasp system.

That rear emblem is just applied to the black panel with some kind of melted hot glue like stuff or something like that that has a rivet sorta like look to it but plastic. Hard to explain. On my GT 350 had a crack develop beside my silver emblem. Under warranty they replaced it. You have to replace the entire black panel, it isn't a separate piece. And if you were to have to buy it that panel with emblem on it is like a thousand dollars or so if I remember right.

Went to the dealer today with the TSB in hand to begin the process of getting my bumper gap fixed. I did not bring my car, but had taken pictures because I did not think there would be much issue with initiating a claim. The dealership was very pleasant, but I had to send them more pictures along with my odometer reading. The service person indicated that it was an involved process that had to be completed before anything could be ordered. They would be in touch. I will post updates of the progress.

Stuck to the OP’s instructions... used a self-tapping screw (#6 x 1/2”) in the corners. In addition to the OP’s instructions, I used small lock washers under every other panel screw on the plastic black runners where the tabs click in. If they back out now, I’ll be amazed.

By the way, all screws were loose and I could back them out with my fingers and no force at all.

To hell with that TSB!

I didn’t change out any brackets. My brackets look the same as those in the OP’s first pics... I just have a black oxide lock washer under some of the bolts joint the bracket to the metal.

It’s inconspicuous, but hopefully a good solution.

My concern with these cars is the amount of vibration they emit... those frequencies, IMHO (and Epiphany would know better than I) shake some of the mounting hardware lose.

I would be willing to bet the NVH is also what caused the left post to fail on my rear snake badge.

I was referring to new brackets that come with TSB KIT.
