It just takes longer than any vehicle I have ever driven in the last 30 years so its very noticeable. When you are use to putting it in to gear and go and now you have to wait before getting on the gas its just a little odd. Its not a real big deal, just have to get use to it I guess.
Also probably ALOT more complex automatic that you've probably driven in those 30 years, especially up to about 5 years ago when most autos were literal shit boxes (save for the high end stuff like Porsche, GTR).

As you said, it's worse in the cold so it's just the nature of the beast with all the extra stuff in there.

Yeah, I'm beginning to believe it's just the nature of the tranny. Something I'll get used too. It is one of the best at changing gears than any I've ever had.

Wonder if it has anything to do with a malfunctioning valve body?

Most likely the part of the transmission GM designed.

Mine has 200 miles on it...R to D and I feel it engauge. if you nail it, feels like total slip. Stop, give it gas again, totally fine and spins the tires.

Is this some sort of trans protection program built in.

If you are just driving around and stop, and then hammer it, this doesn't happen. Just from P or R to D.

It must be by design from GM. Mine has settled down a bit, and the lag time is even from P to D to R at approx. 3 -5 seconds. After it's engaged there's no slipping. Make sure your's is fully engaged, it may be you're hitting it too soon. Maybe......I hope there's nothing wrong wit your trans.

Slowest delay I've ever too. But it's really and fast shifting otherwise. Sometimes I think I'm in neutral.

I have determined that it is just a programed delay to deter the Hoons from any R to D antics.

It is about 3 seconds and it's 100% in gear.

You know, I was just about to ask this about my A6.... it seems like it takes an awful long time to shift from R to D.

I've another issue I wondered about as well, but that's for another thread...

It’s programmed in, Its just one more protection measure. Yes it can be removed.

It is definitely noticeable. Does it take a tune or will Forscan take it out?

Don't have my car yet so can't speak to the A10 but our 2015 Rogue (CVT) does the same thing, it's shift, 1, 2, engaged. I had to tell my wife to wait on it because the first few times I drove it I was already on the gas before it was in D, probably not good for the metal rubber band in the trans.
