Case spreader needed for iron diff housing?

Anyone know if this is an aluminum housing thing or all irs diff housings require the case spreader to remove the carrier/ring gear.

My iron needed it. Or you can just chuck that bitch up in the press. That's what I did. Just don't use any more pressure than you have to.

Ford calls for it in their service manual but it is not needed. Little finesse and you can get it out
