The next mustang is in design studio right now, it will be if nothing else a complete top hat change if it stays on s550.
We need The Rock to pay a visit with his film crew......who knows what goodies might "leak" out :D

I know that by the nature of my work I should know by now the exact definition of "Top Hat".... but the truth is that I don't  .

How would you define "TopHat"? so I can get it....

They should focus on their other best selling lines and updating those cars to sell more and allow them funding to develop a mustang on a whole new lighter platform. i wouldn't mind if this gen lasted til 2026

Everything you see when you look at the car except maybe the tires. An example is the S197 change in 2010.

That's a good analogy......although the '10MY refresh also had significant suspension tweaks (I was amazed how smoothly the '10 GT rode compared to my '05 GT :) )

Gotcha... so basically a "big change" but without a change in platform right? Same with Foxbody and SN95 cars? (I mean, since SN95 was still under the Fox Platform).

I would be okay with the new generation Mustang being delayed for 10 years. I would prefer for Ford to refine and improve the current Mustang.

I bought a base 16 GT and enjoyed modding the platform more than my 14 Cyclone 3-link.
It's cheaper to mod, the subframe at least. Complete new "Top hat" would be fine with me.

Not surprised by this at all.Since the Mustang is selling so well domestic & global, pushing the current generation to 2025/26 should not hurt sales.:headbang:
