Good, they deserve it.

I have a POS Focus that is on its 3rd clutch replacement. Hopefully this will force them to listen to their customers and replace the shitboxes, instead of blaming the the fault on their customers driving habits...

Ford might be open to more over the oil cooler issue that some dealers including my dealer seem to have their head in the sand over. The fault is known to various dealers yet others are ignoring the issue.

One can only hope, but this is what it took to get them to honour something even more prevalent so who knows...it a good start though!

Good idea Mark, if you're up for letting us know how you go it might be worthwhile posting in the oil cooler failure thread.

With the oil cooler and a/c evaporator issues, what are people's views on the extended warranties that are on offer from Dealers?

I think it's probably going to prove to be very worthwhile for anyone keeping the vehicle past the initial 3 year/100k km warranty.

Be aware that dealers usually try and push 3rd party extended warranties because there's better margin in it for them but the warranty usually has a lot of limitations and conditions. Ford themselves offer an extended warranty which I think is called MyFord. I've never used it but I suggest doing your research and being very clear about what you want.

10mm is pocket change. They will just write that off as operating expenses. Now, what happened with VW where it was in the billions stung quite a bit.

I have six year FORD FACTORY WARRANTY.
on their website.
Available to anyone if your car still under New Car Warranty.
Guess it helps if you only have it serviced at Ford. Good luck if you're car is modified. I've got a Ford rubber bootmat - so back to stock in 10 seconds.

Dealer warranties are not worth it - read the exclusions in the fine print.

BTW, I had it documented on my last service report that Oil Pump be checked.
This is in writing. Dealer noted that TSB "does not apply to my vehicle."
I've been proactive.
Service Docket retained, photocopied and electronic copy stored and filed

It comes to about $133 per car. I agree $10 mil isn't much. I mean, the Mclaren Formula One team paid a $100 mil (10 times as much) for not reporting that one of their employees received confidential technical information from a disgruntled Ferrari employee.

That's only the fine though isn't? Aren't they also going to be forced to rectify, even buy back, the thousands of dodgy cars? Haven't followed it too closely as I don't have one. Still a relatively small amount in the scheme of things and they'll no doubt pass along much of the cost to the supplier of the dodgy trans as well.

Ray, how much does the 6 year extended warranty cost if you don't mind me asking.

Warranty retails at $2700 for 3 year extension of original warranty. I wrapped it into my deal.
Figured it was $900 a year or $18 week for peace of mind over final 3 years. Actually I got greater Peace of mind over 6 years really knowing I'm fully covered.

It's on their website and your dealer is only one who can sell it.
I got it before we knew about oil pressure pump, air Cond and autos.

I knew I was buying a Ford - not a Lexus.
